Most dealers do not put a sticker in the glove box. Mine was given to me on a card when I bought the car. If they are dumb enough to put a sticker in the glove box, they might as well write the code on the front of the stereo. The point of an anti-theft code stereo is so the thief doesn't know the code. If they put the code in an easy place like the glove box, it defeats the purpose. Use Honda's OwnerLink to retrieve your code, or contact your dealer with the radio's serial number.

Hillstones,

I used to agree with the logic, however I've since read a comment elsewhere that made me rethink this argument.

Unlike radio units of yester years, the Accord radio isn't easy to remove/steal, as you've probably gathered from your Nav conversion process, so it's unlikely that any thief with half a brain cell would actually attempt to steal an Accord radio unless they have a lot of time on their hands and under concealment to carefully remove the radio without damage, this is only a likely scenario when the entire car is stolen for parts.

My radio code sticker was applied to the bottom inside of the glove compartment door, it came in handy since I did not receive the radio code card when I bought the car as the 4th official owner, and the original dealership which sold the car was not helpful at all claiming while they normally keep the code on file for cars they sold, in this case the code was not in their file and they wouldn't locate the code for me.

I ended up calling the Honda toll free number in the US, and the nice lady on the line verified for me that the code I have is in fact the right code for my VIN.

I can understand your point. Apparently some dealers are lazy in selling used cars and not providing a code. The Honda OwnerLink website has the ability to store your radio/navi code under the "My Vehicle" section. However, it seems most people don't take advantage of the free OwnerLink website.

The Accord, since 2003, now uses a proprietary stereo that would only work in another Accord, as you pointed out. Not like a standard DIN or Double DIN that can be useful in many cars. However, the stereo is very easy to remove. At first glance it may not appear to be easy to remove. However, Honda accessory websites post installation guides for free that give instructions on how to remove the stereo. So if someone wanted to steal an Accord stereo, they can download the instructions for free. Since a thief isn't concerned about removing parts without damage, they could get the Accord stereo out rather quickly.

How about this...a few months ago, I installed the Honda OEM Security System in my Element. The instructions are also posted online at any Honda accessories website. The instructions explain where the CPU is and the harness that plugs into it. I was thinking as I was installing it, all a thief had to do was read the instructions to know where the harness is to unplug it and disconnect the security system. So how secure is it? Thankfully most thieves are dumb. Posting the instructions is convenient, but on some items, they should only be included with the purchase of the accessory.

finding the code for 2007 Accord SE V6 radio...

The diagram of the radio given at the Owner Link page doesn't match my radio. It's a radio with 6 CD changer. No navigation. No satellite radio. If someone knows the sequence of buttons to press to retrieve the code, I would really be grateful.

I have *tried* to attach a picture of the radio.

Thank you.

David

2002 Accord Sat Nav Screen Blocked in japanese

hi guys, im sitting with a HUGEE dilemma!! Im from South africa, and recently bought a second hand HONDA ACCORD 20EL from Japan. The car works fine, my radio works well, the screen on top lights up shows the tracks radio station etc! The problem is with the navigation screen, it seems to be blocked and i have tried the preset combinations to unlock it, i cant find the serial number anywhere, if any of you knows a solution for this it would be much appreciated. otherwise ill have to take the radio apart over the weekend, try to retrieve the serial number fom the back of the console, and reset the fuse ( i have read in some forums all you have to do is remove the fuse from the back console and put it back in and VOILA! it should work)

i have attached some pics of the radio.. HELPPP PLEASEE

Sorry you're not getting any replies, but people are reading your messages.

With respect to the PLEASE CHECK DISK, I would imagine the message would be related to the Navi disk in the DVD unit. In my care (a 2004 model), that's in the trunk. Wish I could tell you more.

This could mean that the disc is damaged or possibly not even there. Hit eject and see if anything comes out. You will need a disc that is made for your area. There is NOT supposed to be a PC card there. Don't worry about that.

Check Disk - SAT NAV Honda Accord

Hi guys! appreciate your input on the matter! i have taken some photos. This is my Unit. It doesnt have a DISK, i will probably have to look for one here in South Africa, if even they sell this types of disk here. (what type of disk is it? it seems to big to be like the normal GPS SD CARDS) I hope the Sat Nav's here use the same disk. My question is, is this all Unit just for the Satellite navigation? I have seen other YOUTUBE videos where this unit is also the media player and not just the Sat Nav. I saw it is also a touch unit. is this correct? I have attached Cable Pictures, there is a cable that came in the car, im not sure what it is for, any help would be great!

Again thank you very much for the help, im just trying to have this whole unit figured out before i even decide on changing it.

usually like in my 03' ex the code was written down in my manual, but if not like other people have said you can call the dealership. on my friends civic we just looked it up online and she found one that works. best bet is try to find it online and if not call the dealership and tell them and usually they can help free of charge
