Broken Sway Bar
My '94 has been diagnosed with a broken front sway bar.
It is on back order from Honda. Is it okay to drive it for a short while? |

I would not. the front swaybar controls the car from swaying and it is and could be very dangerous.

Thanks kevster.
I don't plan to do much driving till the repair. Other than the swaying, could there be any other physical damage be done to the suspension, the Accord etc.? |

How did it break? I would not drive car over 40 mph, thats for sure. I have never heard of a swaybar breaking on its own. If you were to drive the car at 50-70mph and you had to suddenly yank the stering wheel to the left/right to avoid something, than for sure you would lose control of the car and severe consequenses would be immediate.

The mechanic said it was metal fatigue that caused the breakage. He was very surprised to see that it has happened to a Honda - said this kind of repair is common with GM's.
Only city driving would be done if needed, at 50-60 kmh's. Will be parked otherwise. One last thought - do you recommend getting both sides (left and right) replaced? |
