High Performance Transmission Fluid
1999 v6 sedan, automatic transmission...
Is there a high performance transmission fluid for Honda? This car is going to be getting run hard for hours on end, with lots of shifts in between. I have a cooler mounted, but now want to add/replace what's in there and would like something that's not going to breakdown on me over race weekend. Seems like the transmissions are a bit finicky, so I imagine they're that way with fluid as well. |

OK...so no issues with running aftermarket ATF you think? I don't know why there would be, but I figured I'd ask.

I can't answer a generic question like that. I've had no problems with running Amsoil specifically. Do not try running "racing" ATF, but you can get higher quality replacements.

tons of people on acurazine run redline D4. My dad MDX runs Castro syn AT oil. Just remember to change it when you need to. I would suggest you do a 3x3 drain and refill if your going to put in good fluid. I also recommend a transmission cooler just for preventive measure.

Ended up using this without seeing any major problems beyond what we had expected with the way this car was being driven. We have a trasmission cooler in place but are still in need of a filter. We're trying to figure out what are next step is...rebuild the AT, find an MT (likely too $$$) or just drive it again. I think another endurance weekend will kill it without proper upgrades, but we still have a thin budget. Time will tell (and I'll update). |

Lubegard Red along with some of the Anti-shutter fix. Available on Amazon. It would be cool to run the car till the trans croaks.
Add inline filter asap.
