Question Keyless Entry Remote Reprogramming

I just finished changing out a master driver's side window switch AND window motor / regulator assembly in my '05 Accord Coupe. Somewhere in the process, my keyless entry remote mysteriously stopped working. It worked before I started, didn't work when I finished. No fuses blown, battery is good in the remote, door locks operate on the switch just fine. Locking / unlocking / popping the trunk no longer works from the remote.

In my research, I've found that it is pretty common for the keyless entry remote to lose sync and need to be reprogrammed, which can only be done at the dealer. Does anyone know how much it costs to have a remote reprogrammed?

5. Within 1 to 4 Seconds press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver in the power window master switch

6. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition OFF

7. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition ON

8. Within 1 to 4 Seconds press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver in the power window master switch

9. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition OFF

10. Within 1 to 4 seconds turn the ignition ON

11. Within 1 to 4 Seconds press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver in the power window master switch

12. Confirm that you hear the sound of the door lock actuators within 1 to 4 seconds then push the lock or unlock button again, or the code will not be stored.

13. Within 10 seconds aim the transmitters at the keyless entry receiver and press the lock or unlock button.
Confirm that the hear the actuators after each transmitter is stored

14. Turn the ignition to OFF, and pull out the key

15. Confirm that each transmitter works.

Make sure you have all the keys that you are going to program because they all need to be added.

Quick follow up for those who are having a similar problem. Went ahead and took my car to my local Honda dealer. Not only did they reprogram for FREE, but they showed me how to do it, should it happen again. I guess it doesn't have to be done at the dealer, but you need to know how to do it:

1. In the car, door shut, all accessories off (radio, blower fan, etc.)
2. Insert the key in the ignition and turn to ignition on position (past accessory, but before you actually turn the engine over)
3. With key turned to this position, hit the lock button on the remote, then turn back to off position.
4. Repeat this several times, in quick succession and you should now hear the door lock begin to cycle when you press the lock button.
5. If you have a second remote, hit the lock button on it now as well (does not need to be inserted into the ignition)
6. Your remote (or remotes) should now be reprogrammed.

Much appreciated! Your instructions were much more detailed than what I received at the dealership. Thanks for the reply!

I have two of the keys with 3 buttons plus panic, one needs programming. I also have one key that is a smart key with a chip in it, but no buttons on it.

If I try to reprogram to get the second key working, how does the programming affect the non-button key? Don't want to disable it.

Programming the remote will not affect the immobilizer chip of any of the keys.

It's amazing how much the dealers and locksmiths make this out to be voodoo or something.

I did notice the key that the locksmith cut (with buttons) will turn the engine over but it will not start. Programming per the above instructions will fix that without disabling the one plain key then?

Many thanks!

No. The instructions above will only program the remote portion. You will need the dealership to program it to start the car. Some locksmiths are able to clone a working key cheaper than the dealership.
