Chrome Door Trim - Bent/Peel

I was wondering if anyone knew what I could do to fix the chrome on the door parallel to the window. (Vertical Strip).

Its bent at the top corner and is very sharp (cut my hand while trying to wash my car last time.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can "unbend" or "re-glue" the top corner?

Sorry for the lack of pics....I have to run to class to take my final LOL..

If you are talking about the piece that surrounds the windows, it's not an easy fix. It would have to be completely replaced I believe and probably wouldn't be cheap because it's a lot of work. At least that's what I remember when I went to get mine fixed. All they did was glue mine down to get it back flush like the rest of it as a temporary fix. They were going to fix it under warranty, but the glue held up fine, then I traded it in.

I can't tell you exactly how they did it though since I didn't watch.

Are you referring to the chrome molding sash that runs along the top, parallel to window (one piece that runs horizontal). I replaced it before on my sedan. I bought the part through Bernardi Honda parts $21 plus shipping.

You replace the whole piece, it is practically impossible to remove without damaging it. It is held on with one phillips screw and double-sided tape. You have to remove the side mirror to be able to peel the molding away from that corner of the door. Taking off the molding is easy, removing the adhesive left behind from the old double-sided tape is a bitch.

Even though that area will be covered up behind the new molding, I didn't want to use a scrapper to remove the adhesive. I bought some 3M adhesive remover in a spray can from Walmart which did the job. It still takes a while. I tried a little heat with a heat gun; but, gave up quickly with that idea. While the 3M adhesive remover doesn't work instantly, it does work quite well and removes all of the adhesive without residue. I did have to go through a bunch of clean towels, as there was quite a bit of adhesive that was left on the door.

No, I also tried a similar product, it left too much wet smearing residual in a test spot, and I did not want it accidentally getting on the interior trim, etc. and having more to clean up. The 3M adhesive removal is superior in removing the adhesive on car's metal surface and leaving it in as new condition. I can't say enough good things about the 3M product and would use it again in a heartbeat.
