08 EX-L Navi V6 Check Engine Light Issues

I bought the car last August with 90k KMS (56k miles) on it and this first happened about a month ago. I was on the highway, using the cruise control at 120 km/h. The check engine light started flashing for about a minute, then became solid with the VSA light and the traction lost light (Little triangle with the exclamation mark inside it) light, both solid. It drove just fine, so I got home and cleared the light by disconnecting the battery.

All was good, it didn't come back on until yesturday. Same thing happened, check engine light flashing, then went solid with the other two lights. Cleared it. Again it came back. Cleared it AGAIN, and this time the check engine light just stays flashing while the two other lights are just on.

I am worried on what it could be? From googling it maybe a misfire code for cylinder #3? Maybe a bad ignition coil or cable?

I manager to get an innova OBD-II code reader (this one: http://www.innova.com/Product/FullDe...9-16B3A0334F7F) from a friend at work and am going to try and read the code tonight. My questions are:

1) Where is the port? From googling it seems its somewhere in and around the driver side foot well?
2) Is this the right reader? I know the protocols changed with this generation of accords.
3) Anyone have similar issues?

The ODBII port is near the hood relase... it is vertical along side the kick panel.

Should work as long as it is ODBII as stated.

No, the only thing that comes to mind with VSA off / Traction light error is TPMS air pressures need checked.

Autozone will pull you're trouble codes for free. But when it comes to sensors i recommend honda only.

Thanks for the reply.
I dont think its TPMS as I have had a TPMS sensor go off before. It looked like this: http://carpoolwithbill.com/wp-conten...lay1.jpg?w=300

When it came on, I drove to a gas station, filled up all 4 tires with air and it was good. The check engine light was not on for this.

This is what my dash looks like now:

I think you have the same problem as this guy: http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=71038

Except he didn't find out what the problem is. I'm sure your OBDII reader will give you more information.

Based on the image of your dash, you have an engine code and your tpms is not functioning properly, nothing to do with tire pressure. Without knowing the codes there isn't much to do. Take it to the dealer if there are no other shops or parts stores that will read it.

Why do you think its TPMS? The TPMS light didnt come on. TPMS = tire pressure monitoring system. I am going to go home and get it read, and report back asap.

A little more information. The car's idle is very rough. When I stop at a stop light I can feel a huge vibration of some sort, it feels like its from the engine. I cant accelerate hard at ALL, the car "shudders", feels like when someone who doesn't know how to drive manual, driving for the first time.

People are getting the TPMS light confused with the (!) light that you have on. In other cars, the TPMS light looks very very very similar to the (!). In the Accord, however, I believe the TPMS light is basically the words "TPMS" lit up. You'll have to forgive people since it's very easy to mix up the two.

My apologies, as stated, the tpms light says tpms. I thought I read tpms. From my reading, the vsa and exclamation light could signal an issue with the brakes, the vsa system itself or a potential slippage being constantly detected by the system.

Based on the other symptom, a misfire is possible. The car could be stuck in vcm, limp mode.

Hey Guys,

just got home and read the code. It came up as cylinder #3 missfire. Ok so now what do I do? I am going to clean the spark plug for now and see if it comes back. If it does, does that mean I need to change the ignition coil? Also, which ones is cylinder #3? I found this schematic for honda v6 engines, is this correct?

That's the schematic I found ad well. You just need to replace the plug. Isn't your car undrr warranty though? Going by US, its 5 year 60 miles.

Used that schematic and cleaned the plug. It was VERY black. Drive around after and to work this morning and it seems ok. I don't think its under warranty. I bought it used and its at 123k Kms at the moment.
