Yeah, to help clarify (and hopefully resolve forever):

Taiwan, is what's left of the old, "Republic of China," which for various reasons, is still officially called, "Republic of China." Normally, if it's from Taiwan, the package will say, "Taiwan," "Republic of China, Taiwan," "Taiwan, R.O.C," of some variation thereof.

China, is "People's Republic of China," and is ~100% what people mean by "China." It's also the much bigger one of the two.

Taiwan exports rarely, if ever, only say, "ROC," always have something else to clarify it's Taiwanese origins. Just my experience, so far.

Can't speak for to how they perform on an Accord, but I'm running Centrics with EBC pads on the rear of my Jeep and I'm really happy with them. I'm running Stillen cross-drilled rotors on the front of the Jeep and I could not bring myself to spend crazy money on rear Stillens, so I decided to roll the dice and go with the Centric's. I have put say 1,500 miles of towing two sport quads on a trailer (say 1,300lbs), on a combo of highway and local country roads, on my truck since installing the Centric rear rotors and they show no signs of wear, discoloration due to heat, etc. They appear to be a quality rotor.

Good clarification from the commerce perspective. This is also a potential geopolitical flashpoint.

Taiwan is where the Nationalist Chinese under Chiang Kai-shek retreated to in 1949 after they lost the civil war to the Communists under Mao Zedong.

China considers Taiwan to be its "34th province" except for the intervention of the West. The U.S. has pledged to defend Taiwan by treaty since 1955. This has at times been a sore point in US-Chinese relations, and some military scholars believe much of Chinese military buildup and weapons development has focused on an ability to retake Taiwan before the US can respond. That is one reason why China frets whenever the US increases its forces in the Western Pacific. It's also why China is very close to having a sea-skimming supersonic missile designed to be capable of defeating the multiple carrier battle group defenses and sinking the carrier itself. You can bet a significant amount of effort within the US defense effort is targeted at ways to defeat this emerging threat. The most pessimistic in the defense community believe such a missile means China could retake Taiwan before the US could mount a meaningful response - game over.

Excellent post, I thought this was common knowledge but I guess it's not.

Also considering centrics

I too am also considering centric premium plain rotors and ceramic posiquiet pads for the rear of my 08v6 6mt.
I like the idea of the coating on the hat of the rotors, and decent reviews of the pads online.
Anyone know how they compare to stock oem parts which in Canada are 3-5 times more expensive?
Also Ive read numerous posts about revised rear brake pads for the 2008 accords that have v-springs..anyone know how useful those springs are?
Most garages I called knew nothing about them except for the dealership.

On my 2008 Honda Accord V6 EX sedan, rather than going to the dealer as part of Honda's class action rear brake lawsuit, I bought Centric Premium Plain 120 series rotors from tirerack.com ($60 a set) and a set of the Honda upgraded pads with the V-springs from bernardiparts.com ($48.87 a set) and had a local mechanic install everything. I was at the Honda dealer last week for a different issue, and because they write down the wear on the pads as part of their free multi-inspection report, and because I have been keeping good records, I can gladly say that the rear pads are wearing at half the rate that they were wearing with the original pads at the same mileage. However, as part of a TSB that was also issued, I also received free front pads as well, and they are now wearing twice as much as the original pads (Which originally had almost zero wear, so that is a good thing because the fronts are actually offering some stopping power and are probably contributing to the longer wear of the rear pads). So between the design changes of both sets of pads, things have definitely improved, although I must say that the brake pad wear is still drastically faster than any other vehicle that I have ever owned. It is too early mileage-wise to tell if the Centric rotors will hold up without warping, but at this point they are fine. Now that all the Honda free fix stuff is over with, next time I will be getting Centric rotors for the front (because the originals were cut once already due to those warping as well) and probably get something like Hawk or EBC pads all around.

Thanks for the update...still unsure what to do... The "new" oem pads costs 75$ here in canada, and online the price with shipping is about the same.
While I could buy almost any brand name pad with the rotors for an extra $30...

One more question about the OEM pads...Do they create a lot of dust?

Yes, especially the front pads; although this is my first car (All my other vehicles have been trucks or SUV's), so I don't know if that is a fair comparison. I wash the Honda about once every month or two, and there is quite a buildup of dust on the inside of the rims in that amount of time, not that I care.

Can you give more details? If you touch the rotor surface is it still smooth or are these streaks more like grooves?
If in the rear (brakes) did you make sure the piston groove is aligned with nub on the pad when you screwed the piston back in?

Otherwise, it's very hard to say, brakes are relatively easy to replace but if you forget one small thing you often ruin the parts in no time. I would double check everything, slider pins, piston, and pad position in the caliper bracket.
Makes sure everything is free to move easily.
