Seeking Tire Advice 245/40/19 for HFP Wheels

Just ordered the 19" HFPs and need to figure out what tires to get. After considerable searching these seem to be the most viable options... Any input or experiences appreciated

Is the Eagle RS-A completely worthless? Is the Pirelli worth it for the Treadwear and warranty, or is the Hankook 'middle ground' really the answer?

These prices include tax and installation (OTD):

Pirelli P-Zero Nero All Season 45k warranty; 400 Treadwear--- $930
Goodyear Eagle RS-A 280 Treadwear; No warranty--- $725
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 280 Treadwear; No warranty--- $805 (After 80 rebate)

Those all sound like pretty nice tires. I have not used The RS-A, but I've used Goodyear Eagle of some variety and liked them. I hear great things about the Ventus V12, but also hear if you have a tall sidewall it feels laterally squishy, but also great for stretching. No experience with Pirelli.

Personal recommendation, if you're going for performance mid tread wear, look at the Continental ExtremeContact DW. I have those and they're now my favorite tire. Someone noticed I had them and told me high end Jaguars come with them. Very light weight and grippy, and even wear fairly slowly.

I have the hankook ventus v12 on my car since early March and i have no complaints with these tires. The road noise is minimal and the ride is exceptionally smooth. You can feel the car hugging the corners and be confident that your in total control. The only detest I have for these tires is the decrease in MPG, but that will occur in whichever brand of tires you get. Nothing too significant but will notice a difference. A lot of members pair these up with hfp19's and I can tell why. I definately vouch for these tires.

I've had no problems with my Kumho Ectsa4. Very little road noise, handle well in the rain and seem to be holding up well.

Goodyear Eagle RS-A --> Old model tires. Surprised they haven't been discontinued. Terrible tires for the price (IMO). Friend's sister had them on her G35. Terrible grip in the wet, acceptable in the dry. Poor wear life. I found them to have slightly worse handling than the OEM Michelin's that came on my Accord.... and the OEM Michelin's are known to be terrible tires.

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo --> I have these. Love them. Excellent grip in both dry and wet. Can be a little on the soft side for some, so I put an extra 4 psi to help stiffen them up... makes a huge improvement.

Wear's been okay. Since they're a Max Performance summer tire, I'll probably only get 20K miles out of them. Nice quiet ride and comfortable too (probably due to soft-ish sidewall).

Pirelli P-Zero Nero All Season --> Brother had older version on his GS. These newer versions are suppose to be an improvement over those.

I thought they were pretty good tires. Good grip in the dry and wet. Nice quiet and comfortable ride. Overall, I think they're an excellent all season tire. This newer version gives the Continental DWS's (which I also love and have recommended here since they came out) a run for their money in pretty much every area except in the snow, IMO.

Thanks for all the input ya'll... I went in to Discount Tire today and was negotiating on prices for the Pirelli or possibly Yokahoma YK520. During the negotiations one of the employees chimed in that someone had just returned a set of 245/40/19 Goodyear RS-A with less than 100 miles on them.

Long story short, I went for the used RS-A's... Here is the deal I got-- $80 per tire ($176 each new). Was able to add the certs too. $506 OTD. The certs will come in handy if I experience ANY issues.

Hope there's no bad "juju" on these tyres!! I will post pics when the wheels come in from collegehillshonda and I get them mounted...

BiGBlkCaR12, sounds like you got a good price on the RS-A's. Let us know what you think after you get some time on them.

Thanks for your support.

About 1,200 miles on the 245/40/19 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires now. I have been happy with them overall, especially given what I paid for them. They seemed to drift around on the highway a bit when I first put them on. Either that has gone away or I have gotten used to it, but I don't really notice it anymore. They are at least as quiet as the Michelins on the highway. I can definitely tell the difference between the 55 and 40 sidewall on bumps and pot holes, but I was expecting that and it has little to do with the tire model.

I will try to remember to update as I get more miles on them
