Swap Out OEM Radios
Apologies if the following question has been asked before.
The factory stereo has malfunctioned on my 2004 Accord EXL Coupe. The LCD screen has gone dark and so has the backlighting on all surrounding switches, though otherwise the radio/CD player still works properly. The local Honda dealer tells me this problem is due to a bad circuit board, and they quoted $250 to replace the chip (not the radio). The service rep also said that Honda would not guarantee repairs made on used radios, and that they subcontract this work to a third party out of state. I just laughed and said no thanks. I would like to replace my model 7BY1 radio with a refurbished model 7FY1, which has the same faceplate except for the words "Premium Audio System" printed across the front. Must I get other parts to make the 7FY1 system work in my car? |

I bought a used/refurb unit from Ebay and swapped them out. Also put in an Isimple Ipod interface at the same time.
I inquired about the Premium Audio System and this is what was told to me: http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...28&postcount=8 Also - check out this sticky for more info and procedures. http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5399
