Can 8gen coupe projectors be retrofitted onto 8gen sedan

I can get a set of coupe headlights at a fairly decent price and was wondering, as the title asks, if I can retrofit the oem projectors from the coupe into my sedan headlights. I ask because I have an HID kit that I would like to use. I know the following from reading:

1 - HID kits in the stock sedan housing is no good due to scatter and glare
2 - Coupe oem projectors work better with halogen bulbs than with HID.

But the key word is better, right? This would indicate that it would still work (at least reasonably) with an HID and since they are projectors...

And yes, I know that s2000 and tl, etc. lights are better but I can get the coupe ones cheaper and was hoping they would be a closer fit (require less fabrication).

Saying the coupe OEM projectors work better with halogen bulbs than with HIDs is the same as saying the sedan OEM reflectors work better with halogen bulbs than with HIDs. The both technically work with HIDs, but you'll get glare with them.

Why not just spend $120ish to get Morimoto H1 if you're going to spend the time retrofitting it? With the coupe headlights, you're going to have to spend a lot of time and some money taking out the coupe projectors. They're completely different from the sedan headlights. It's going to be much easier getting a pair of Morimoto HID projectors and installing those.

I'm sure you can sell the coupe headlights for more than $120 if they're OEM.

But does it stop with the $120 projectors? I thought there were a bunch of other things that I have to get in order to install those. I assumed with the coupe lights I would only need the projectors since they are oem. Thanks for helping me figure this stuff out guys.

if the OP is gonna spend $120 on MH1's, might as well get a better performing oem projector for around the same price. only thing extra you would need is the hid kit itself and the d2s/d2r adapter and shrouds. i paid around $100 for infiniti FX projectors (retrofitsource), and around $50 for acura RL projectors (hidplanet)

Nope. You're going to have a much easier time installing the Morimoto H1/D2S projectors.

The coupe projectors are OEM, but they're designed for the coupe headlights which are completely different than the sedan headlights. It's not going to be like plug and play or anything. You're still going to have make sure everything is aligned, drill, mount, etc. If you use the coupe projectors, you're going to go through all that trouble and still not have a legit HID system.

If you sell your coupe headlights and get a set of Morimoto H1/D2S or FX-R HID projectors, you'll have an easier time with the installation and you'll have much better light output.

good luck trying to fit the coupe projectors in your sedan headlights. they are part of the headlight, one big bracket.

like other's have said, go with the morimotos or another oem projector.

Just did my headlights on my sedan with retrofit source and they sell kits that includes everything for under 300$ The ballasts are twice the price of ebay ballasts but the guy who did my headlights convince me to get them. I suggest you to go with momorito. You wont regret it!

Ok. Thanks for the tips. I already have an hid set. I'm looking into projectors so I don't cause any accidents. I don't want to spend the $250 they're asking for on the various sites, though I'm sure they are great quality kits. I'm just cheap and poor. So say I get a pair of fx or murano headlights. How difficult would it be to fit them to my sedan? All I would need from them would be the projectors and shrouds, right? I wouldn't have to buy anything else because I already have an hid kit? Thanks everyone.

It would be cheaper if you already have the hid's but if you really want to go through all the trouble of making other oem projectors and shrouds fit to save a few bucks.. Good luck buddy! You better put pics when you're done. want to see if it was worth it :P

Best to get these: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=3181 or http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=236 and then just buy the correct bulbs.

If you really want to save money and have a good light output, then just get these and call it a day:

How hard was it for you to put in the fx and rl projectors? I can get a set of tl projectors. Same difficulty?

Thanks everyone for your help.
