Trailer Hitch

I was planning on buying a jet ski and towing it with my i4 accord. Has anybody else had experiences with towing on a 4 cylinder? Also, what are some good hitches for the accords that are cheap and good quality?

I had a hitch on a 2006 I4 manual transmission Accord and had no issues pulling a 4'x6' utility trailer. Now I never had the trailer anywhere near it's capacity. Pulling a trailer with one or even two jet skies shouldn't be an issue.

Curt, Draw-Tite & Reese are all good as for hitches. You will need to decide on which "Class" size you want. Not for the amount you want to tow, but for the receiver size (1 1/4" or 2"), as you "may" also want to mount a bike rack or other items to the hitch every once in a while. With that said, I'd recommend the larger one, as there are adaptors to reduce the receiver down from 2" to 1 1/4". This would give you the most options for what you may what to use the hitch for.

I had a 88 cavalier with a hidden hitch (brand) with no issues towing a jet ski.

Consult your owners manual. It should have a max tow value listed.

But with that said, I see no problem pulling a 16ft aluminum boat/motor/and trailer, as long as it doesn't weigh over 1500 lbs.

Also, for those who have automatics, don't use overdrive when towing something that's in the mid to upper half (appx. 750# - 1500# plus).

As far as I know all they make for the Accord are class I hitches so they are all the 1 1/4".

Personally I have a Hidden Hitch branded one, but they are all pretty much comparable. Since a class I hitch can handle 2000 lbs you should have no problem at all with the jet ski. I have towed my motorcycle and it does just fine, especially if it's mostly level ground.

Also don't forget to get a wiring kit for the trailer lights. They make plug-n-play ones for the Accord, which should literally take 10-15 minutes to install.
