the threat of dullness remains

wow, not a nice thing to say about the 9th gen. Just read this on CNN:

Everyone's a critic?

I found this "article" unoriginal. The quote about "thread of dullness" is stated to come from C&D.

Also, the 2013 Accord is has its (concept car) picture juxtaposed against pictures of the 2013 Camry, Fusion, and Altima. Yet at the same time, earlier in the article, the 2013 Fusion is juxtaposed against a 2012 Accord.

Makes me question the quality of the article being written... (yes I know, now I'm being a critic)

This is the C&D article they quoted: http://www.caranddriver.com/features...rd-future-cars
"After seeing the new Accord coupe in concept form at the Detroit auto show in January, the threat of dullness remains. "
Nice or not, it's the truth.

Way I see it, if Honda makes the same bonehead design mistakes that they have in the past, they should absolutely be ripped by the press. But they should reserve judgment until the 2013's are on the lot. Right now it's speculation. Still, you can't deny some of the questionable things with the 8th gen Accord

Fog lights only in V6
No washer fluid indicator
hit-or-miss ipod connectivity when it should be standard in 100% of all cars built in the last 3 or 4 years
the seats... dear god, the seats...

I could go on forever, and it sounds like nitpicking, but nitpicks add up, like nickels make dollars. And people do take note when there are an abundance of "minor" issues.

This IS the same corporation that still had cassette players in 2008 cars, after all (Acura TL). Honda needs a major hit and not a mild refresh, otherwise Nissan and the Koreans will quite likely overtake them this generation. They can forget catching Toyota... never gonna happen.

I actually have that issue of Car and Driver. Funny thing is that article is titled "25 Cars Worth Waiting For!"

Yup..... my love for the Accord has ended with my current 8th gen...

They keep getting cheaper and cheaper, so this will be my last... There are now better cars out on the market for less, hell I'll buy a used more expensive car to step up to a more QUALITY build that we used to be able to expect out of honda...

+++++++1
The 2013 has already been sculpted and I would bet C&D has already seen it.
All they did was make some changes to the front and back. Blah!

The Koreans are kicking Honda's ass, and Honda refuses to do anything about it.

Honda is going to get stomped into the ground when the new 2013 Ford Fusion arrives at dealers. We are seriously thinking of trading in the Accord on one.

This is what Honda is not realizing. Loyal customers are jumping ship and not even looking at their product due to dullness and bad quality.

When I bought my '07 Accord in 2010, I thought that I'd for sure keep the car for 3 years and trade it in on a 2013 Accord, but now it's becoming less and less likely. I'm still cautiously optimistic about the 2013 because the interior looks a lot better, but I do hope Honda trims down the size and ramps up the sportiness. If they don't, the upcoming Mazda 6 is definitely going to be head and shoulders above it.

Gentlemen, you need to keep up with the numbers.

Honda sold 28k Accords last month, up 70%. In fact, Accord sales (and CR-V sales) have been increasing all year long. It's a good car. It sells well with the lowest incentives in the industry.

You have to compare it with 2010. 2011 numbers were way down due to the tsunami last year.

July 2010

You're the one who mentioned the "70% increase" which is baloney since the tsunami squelched 2011 sales tremendously. Had it been a normal year, there would have been a slight YOY increase from 2010 to 2011, and from 2011 to 2012.

Post all the stats you want. I have had a Honda in my name since 1980. There will not be another after the 2 current ones.
