Agree about the ease of changing the cabin air filter - - - - makes you wonder how the dealership can soak you the better part of a C-note with a strait face.

We are not going to die or get sick from a dirty cabin air filter in our cars. We have to step out of the car someday. The burger we had to lunch will actually do more damage in shortening our life. Save your $20.

A dirty filter will develop an odor and restrict air flow..... not EVERYONE likes to drive with the windows open when its 95 degrees and 60% rH outside!

I replace mine once per year. There is a lot of crap in the air around here, soot, dirt, bugs and mold spores. The filter is usually nasty when removed, well worth 8 euro per year.

It also reduces the airborne grime that gets inside of your cabin.

Parts Source is a Canadian outfit http://www.partsource.ca/store/canad...ive-stores.asp there is no shipping or duty, just taxes, I got both filters for under $43 including tax.

Do you have to replace it? Can it not be washed like the filters of an SRI?

No. It's a paper filter..... water and paper, not good bedfellows.

I changed my filter at 14,000 miles, and as I discovered, that was way too long to wait because it was filthy, much worse than the picture in this thread. So now I will change it at least once a year. As I suspected, the engine air filter was very dirty as well, so I have since changed that as well.

Originally I could not find a single car parts store that stocked an aftermarket part, so I ordered 2 Fram Fresh Breeze filters from Amazon (Free shipping with $25 order). The Fram part # for a 2008 Honda Accord EX V6 is CF10134 ($14.45). I see that the price, as of today, has increased to $18.94. Of course everything is more expensive today......If they could have figured a way to shrink the filter and keep the price the same, I am sure they would have !

Since then, I have seen various Fram Fresh Breeze filters on the shelf at Walmart. And yes, it is extremely easy to change the filter.

I changed my Ody at 15K miles. No difference and hardly dirty. I just changed my Accord filter at 34K. No difference and hardly dirty. I think I'll go 50K miles next time.

Must be where I live.... Cleaner air?

I just did mine today. $30 for both the cabin filter and engine filter at Autozone. Less than 10 minutes work to get them both changed. At 22k, mine were fairly dirty. I will definitely do this once a year, probably at the start of summer from now on.
