Accord Coupe headlights
I did some reading on the forums about headlights and Im confused. I want to change my headlights because the OEM bulbs aren't that bright and the color ****s, I want a both lows & highs bright white color preferably without a tint off blue but a little is ok. Will this
be compatible for my 08 accord coupe for low beams? Do i need to trim tabs off or something? Can anybody recommend a good high beam bulb like this Philips 9012. Im choosing this one because of all the good feedback it has but if you recommend something else please let me know. I am not getting HIDs because I know most people will say get them. Also can someone please explain to me what the terms h9 h11 9011 9012 and etc mean and the proper ones i need for my car? Lastly, I can install both lights without taking off the bumper right?
Thanks! |

Sylvania Silverstars is a good choice, I ran them in pretty much all my cars.

The H9 can replace your stock H11 low beam with slight modification to the bulb's housing. This post had pictures that helped a lot.
The Philips H9s put out pure white light with no hint of blue and considerably more lumens (~1350 vs. ~2100) so they're noticeably brighter. They light up signs much further down the roads I drive compared to stock. They're probably my 2nd favorite mod after my suspension since I appreciate them every time I drive at night. H9, H11, 9011, and 9012 are the bulb sizes. Coupes have H11 stock and can be fitted with H9. Sedans have 9006 stock (I think) and their upgrade is to 9012. I got the Philips 9012s for my parents' Accord based on the comments in this thread, but haven't gotten a chance to install them yet. That thread may have some good info for you.

Recently installed ge night breakers in the high beams for my coupe off of amazon. They have a blue tip, but they don't look like much on drl mode but they perform excellent as high beams.
Went HID for the low beams as they are not reflective housing but projector housing. So before all the bs starts this is my opinion, this is what i use on my personal vehicle with projectors, and do not feel like arguing, so everyone is entitled to their well informed opinions, etc etc etc

Also have gotten for my 2000 Toyota Camry (crashed and totaled) and my Eclipse had the silverstars H4666 sealed light housing now upgraded to Hella E-code mated with HIDs. I just bought HIDs for the low beam on the accord and planning on putting Silverstars on the high beams, sorry no pictures.

FWIW I had Silverstars in my 5th gen Accord that blew out after 9 months of light to average use (died during summer, when I wasn't using them often). Considering the price difference, I'm sticking with the Philips H9s.

Ok thanks! I went ahead and bought the H9 Philips. The highbeams are also accessible without taking off the bumper right? Im thinking of changing those since im already changing the lows.

I don't know about the highbeams since I left them alone. The process should be in the Owner's Manual.

Correct. I found them easier to get to and change than the low beams. They can be accessed from the engine compartment. Your best bet for a high beam upgrade is the third gen. Philips 9011 HIR1 bulb. There is some minor bulb modification involved, like the H9, but its pretty simple.

You are correct. They must be reflector based projectors as you say. I should have know better than to make any comment concerning HID on this forum, fortunately for my coupe i do use HID's and they look great and out perform regular bulbs all day long. Thank you, and good luck to you sir.

And an H9 will outperform and provide more usable light than any HID kit.[/QUOTE]
You're so right markus regular bulbs are the best and hid's are evil. There it's done, all hid's are evil, don't know why i would even try to offer a contrasting view when what i notice are the same old ideas that i really don't feel like arguing about. Silly arguments i have had while on this forum are as follows. HId's are evil, ok if you say so. But they do work better than regular bulbs. Higher octane gas does not work. Ok if you say so. But it does, try 1 tank and see for yourself. Synthetic is better than regular oil. No it's not, waste of money. It is better try it, engine runs smoother, less dirty especially if you want to use the MM. The MM knows best because the honda says so. Um no wrong again 4000 to 6000 is way to long for an oil change especially with regular oil but to each his own. Performance parts don't work, they do , have you ever owned a car with I/H/E and a light tune? If not then don't talk about what you really don't know. And please no more jokes about put a jdm sticker on it it'll make it faster it was funny maybe the first 500 times. What is it with everyone being so rude? Has the joy of riding left you? Why all the honda bashing, show me a more reliable car. If you hate hondas then get another car already. I have tried to offer contrasting views from my experience, over the 18 years i have owned honda's i try products and if they don't work well they don't work but guess what some do like GM Sycromesh, lucas, short air intake. They do work but people will argue and try to flame. Well ok to all those that will argue with my points, you know what you're right, you're right, and i must be wrong although the proof is in the pudding. To all others try and think for yourselves, try new products it might just work better than some people on here think. God bless you all, and good luck.

As far as silly arguments go - it takes at least two people to argue. Why would you participate in arguments you consider silly? Following your own advice ("If you hate hondas then get another car already."), if you don't enjoy participating in this forum then leave for greener pastures.
