Whoa! I was wondering why these switches weren't illuminated.

New project for me to do! I'll have to see what else isn't lighting up. I know the moonroof switch, hazard light, and glove box.

Look at the above diagram someone else posted, there is a removable bulb with a base for the sunroof switch. Part number 6 is the sunroof switch and part number 7 is the removable bulb.

I already removed the bulb from the sunroof switch/module. But the bulb is molded into a plastic base, which has electrical contacts on the bottom (Please see post #13). One of the posts mentioned about buying bulbs from Radio shack. But the bulb cannot be removed from its tiny plastic holder (lack of a better term) or base. Unless there is and I am just not getting it.

Curious, how were you able to remove the bulb from its base? And then place the wire leads from the new bulb into the base (it's so tiny) ?

I am going to order the part from Honda. $7 for the part here in Canada .. oh well. It will be a clean installation and not a hack job.

Yes you can. It looks like copper wires are wrapped at the base of the bulb but you can cut off the copper wires and take it out. Seriously, this cost me only $1.99+tax and took me 1 minute on the bulb itself. It took me more time getting to the switch than working on the bulb itself.

Thanks for the update t-rd.

It's $5 for the bulbs from Radio shack and $10 for new bulb from dealership. (Canada prices)
So I assume the new wire leads from the new bulb are still thin enough so that you when you bend the leads under the base, you can still screw the base back into the module?

They are extremely thin copper wires that you fish through the tiny holes on the base. Then you wrap the copper wires around these channels that are already there.

Done! Thanks a lot t-rd. $5 for the part at Radio Shack instead of $10 at Honda and saved me a day of not having to wait for the part to come in at dealer. I never would have thought Radioshack would have carried something so small.

Try turning the bulb 180 degree, flip the polarity.

I put a multimeter on the contacts and got nothing when I flipped on the headlights. It's something to do with the source.

Can someone tell me exactly how to get to the bulbs?

Someone put something about popping the switch out from either side. Can I do this without taking anything else apart? Something like popping it out with a flat head screw driver or a credit card or something? Is it the same way with the hazard lights?

I just don't want to break anything but I also don't know if I want to start pulling anything apart right now.

Yes, use something really flat like a credit card or anything similar that you won't risk scratching the plastic. I have never had to replace the bulb in the hazard lights but I assume that it would be performed in the same way.

I actually removed the lower plastic panel. There is a philips screw on the bottom left and on the bottom right, you have to remove the a plug. You push the plug in from the rear. Once the plug is loose, you lift the lower right corner out. You will figure it out. But I recommend going the way that you had initially enquired with... using credit card.
