Battery Brand

Hey DA, I just had a question. I work at Valvoline Instant Oil Change and we sell Interstate batteries. I searched and read other threads, but I haven't really seen many people talk about this brand. I have the 4cyl but my question is, are these a good brand of batteries? I got 50% off so i'm only paying about $60 but i'm not sure if I should do, my 35 conversion with a Interstate or not. I plan on adding a subwoofer and amp to the stock radio and want something that can handle it without going dead immediately. Our group 35's have 550 cca with 690 ca and our group 51's have 500cca with 625ca so its not much of a difference I don't think. Should I just use the 51?

Interstate is a good brand, so you are lucky to get such a great discount. See if you can get a series 24F, it fits in our battery tray with no problem. Make sure you upgrade your grounding wire to a V6 cable or add a grounding kit. I did all this last weekend, but with a Duralast Gold 24F. Think the CCA is 750, CA is 945 with a 130 minute reserve.

Just do the V6 battery upgrade! You'll be glad you did, and won't look back. Better/faster cranking (epecially when its cold out), larger reserve, etc. The upgrade doesnt cost that much, especially since you live the states and the parts are that much cheaper.

I just swapped out my stock V6 battery for an Interstate and it has 800 cold cranking amps, the highest among all "normal" brand batteries. Also rated the best on consumer reports. Can't go wrong.

Is the 24F series a direct fit into the original tray ? So all I have to buy is the V6 ground cable ?

Pretty much. The original I4 battery has a plastic case around it, you won't need that because the 24F battery is bigger, and yes, still fits in the original tray. Buy the V6 ground cable and you are good to go.
