Headlights Question

On my 2008 EX-L V6, the headlights would come on for a few seconds when you opened the driver's door or when you unlocked the doors. Now they don't. I have and have had the light switch in the Auto position. I can't think of anything that has changed. Any ideas or suggestions?

That still works. I was referring to the headlights coming on for a few seconds when you open the door to get into the car. They used to do that.

I was not referring to the functionality where the headlights come on via the sensor when it gets dark if in the Auto position..I was referring to the functionality that turns the headlights on briefly when you open the drivers door or unlock the car doors. That was not happening. This morning I started the car in a dark garage and due to the sensor, the headlights came on automatically. I then turned the engine off, removed the key, exited the vehicle, and closed the door. The headlights went off automatically. So far so good. I then opened the drivers door and the headlights came on and stayed on for a few seconds like they are supposed to do. I'm thinking the previous problem was/is due to an aging switch of some type in the electrical system.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks.

OP, great to hear that it is fixed now! I've just got a quick question to ask. I'm in Australia and our Accords have the auto-on headlights, but they do not turn on when I unlock/open the driver's door. I know this is a factory setting on Australian Accords (many features you guys have in the US, we don't have down here), but I really love this feature. Does anyone know if there is a way I can achieve this? Thanks in advance!

The problem is that your steering wheel is on the wrong side. :P

Actually, good post, because previously I didn't realize that Australia had the North America version of the Accord. What other countries have it? USA, Canada, Australia + ?

I just think that Australian Accords are "designed" to not have this feature. It might be because our cars are made in Thailand, not Japan or US. Also, we can't open/close the windows and sunroof with the unlock/lock buttons. There are probably a few more things that Australian Accords miss out on, but I don't remember them from the top of my head.

New Zealand also had the North American Accord, but only available in a V6 model. Asian countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan (Inspire), Hong Kong, Taiwan and China also have the North American Accord. 2.0L models are available in Southeast Asia.
The Acura TSX is sold in Australia and New Zealand under the name "Accord Euro".

He means that the "courtesy lights" feature only works when:

1. light is switched to "auto" and it's dark outside.
2. light is switched to "on"

If it's auto and it's bright outside, the "courtesy lights"...which is what you described with the headlights turning on when you unlock the door and staying on after you turn off the engine...will not turn on.

That's a good point about if in Auto and it's bright outside, the "courtesy lights" feature will not work. I hadn't thought of that. Here's a fix I got from my local dealer if indeed the feature does not seem to be working when it's in Auto and dark. Turn the key on, but do not start the car. Switch the light switch from Off to On six times. Off to On being one time. Supposedly, this resets the feature from whatever caused it to stop working in the first place.
