For folks with the 4cyl
I'm tempted to take a look at the new 13s with the 4 cyl. I'm very pleased with my 09 V6 and just rolled over 50,000 miles going strong. I'm appealed by the as mileage and new interior tech features in the 13'. Anybody have any MPG reports so far? Just seeing if its enough to justify trading in my 09 for better mpg and upgrades for Bluetooth keyless start etc. thanks!

I don't have a direct report myself, but there are the epa numbers, which are a pretty good guess. And so far the reports from real people seem to say that the epa #s are more or less on target. And I like to have fun pretending to spend other people's money, as well as really spending my own. Let's see, a 2009 Accord V-6 is rated 19 city and 29 hwy, for a combined figure of 22. How does yours compare to that? Anyway, at current gas prices and at about 15,000 miles a year the epa guesses gas at $2600 a year. A 2013 Accord 4 CVT is rated 27/36/30, and I think the gas figure for 30 combined is $1950 a year. And so you could save about $650 a year, which over 8 years comes to $5200. $5200 is obviously quite a bit. And your 2009 Accord at this point has excellent trade in value, maybe even around $17,000 or so?? The msrp of a 2013 Accord EX 4 CVT is $26,195. You should be able to get a thousand off of that, but then there's the TTL. Maybe a c. $10,000 difference? But then subtract 5k for the gas savings, and it seems like for just 5k you're sitting in an all new car?....Just a thought. It's not like the gas savings pays for the car, but it sure knocks a fair amount off over c. 8 years of ownership. |

Haven't gassed mine up yet, but the trip computer is showing 29 mpg in mixed highway/city driving after 200 miles. The first 50 miles were all highway from the dealer I bought the car from 75 miles from here, and the trip computer showed 34 at that point. Things should improve after the engine breaks in, but it looks like the 30mpg combined number is easily achievable. I was getting 21mpg on my previous Sonata V6, one of the reasons I traded it (besides things constantly breaking).
I'll be tracking my mileage on fuelly.com. No 2013 Accords on there yet, but I'm sure they'll show up shortly. |

I posted the results of my first tank in the MPG thread. I estimated about 30% city and 70% highway (to accommodate my mostly "suburban" miles) and got 30.0 exactly (calculated the old fashioned way). I'd call the overall tank average driving-wise, so that's a very good start on a new engine, IMO. The trip computer showed an overall MPG number of 30.1 for the tank, so it may be more accurate than I expected.
The trip computer has shown as high as 38 mpg for a single trip, mostly highway. I haven't been able to confirm that with a calculated result. All of this is without using the ECON button, which just blunts the performance a bit too much for me. I made the transition from a gen 8 V6 to a gen 9 I4. Yes, the I4 isn't as powerful, but it still has ample power, so I don't think I'll miss the extra power of the V6 if I continue to get mileage figures like the ones I've seen so far.

I'm getting 33 with the ECON button on full-time. I'm guessing this is a little low, we've been having some gnarley weather lately (50+ mph winds), and I am almost certain this is going to go up by 1-2 mpg.
I traded a 5.4 Triton V-8 F-150 for my Accord, I was getting 10 mpg in the truck, so this mpg jump is just about as good as it gets for me! |

I'm at 500 miles driven with maybe an 80/20 highway/city split and the trip computer is telling me I'm at 33.8 mpg. It claims I've got around 100 miles range left at this rate.
I'm going to fill the tank up tomorrow so I'll see how accurate the mpg monitor is compared to real miles/gallons. I've had the econ button on most of the time and I've been driving between 55 and 65 on the highway - as conservatively as I can to see how much I can squeeze out of this car. The highest I've seen on my commute into work is 39 mpg - I think on long trips I could get over 40 with the cruise set on 60 if I wanted! Crazy! |

I am at 344 miles and 29 mpg mostly city, about 130 miles freeway. I have not filled up yet. Remember, regular fuel!!!
ALL cars do poorly on short city trips. I get 14-19 on these 3-4 mile sprints and hit 40.5 on the freeway. 14-19 sounds low but when you accelerate you get between 3 and 10 mpg and sitting at a traffic light you get 0 MPG-true for all cars without stop/start feature. |

I filled up today - took just over 14 gallons (the dial wasn't on E but it was getting close) for 521 miles - comes out to 37 mpg. Crazy. Meanwhile the trip pc said 33.8 - so I'm not sure what's going on with that.
I topped it off just a bit and the gas gauge reads above F - so I'm pretty sure the tank is full. I would have to say that's about the most I could get out of it I think - I'm going to really like this as the most I could squeeze out of my Mazda 6 was 30 mpg. |

Getting the car on the freeway with the econ button pushed is where it really pays off. I can't imaging the econ button will have that much effect with city driving. |

Just did a 60 mile trip in my Sport. Cruise set at 65 into a 18 mph wind, econ active, trip computer showed 33 mpg.

Maybe the sport has different gearing. I am at about 1600 RPM at 60 MPH, what say you. This thing with a CVT never does above 2500 RPM unless I put the hammer down. I have been impressed when I have had it above 3000. |

I think I was at 1800 RPM at 65. My trip computer may be off. Sometimes these things are spot on and sometimes not so much. I plan on manually checking it too after my dealer-filled tank is used up.

![]() Turns out I never reset the trip computer when picking the car up at the dealer. I'll have to wait another couple weeks before having accurate data. |

mileage will vary and that includes how much YOU weigh also.
