Exclamation Hurricane "Sandy"

All you East coasters please keep an this one.

It is projected to come ashore Tuesday between VA Beach and Long Island. This morning, they are saying DE but Long Island is also a strong possibility.
This one is joining up forces with another Low pressure system and will pack a huge rainfall.
Due to a Full Moon, Waves along the coast could reach 30 feet high and flooding will be likely.
Depending on how slow this is moving, it could also backup the Chesapeake and Delaware Bay's and back up water levels.

Yyeeeuuup....on my way to the Jersey Shore tomorrow to batten down the hatches. I've watched that bay by Herreford's Inlet back-up in a light rain...this should be pretty epic.

Ehh...I don't know. This thing stinks of Hurricane Irene. I mean, coastal areas will take the brunt, but they did then too. I feel like anywhere west of the beaches is just going to be windy rain.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 90 MPH...150
KM/H...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SANDY IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION INTO A
FRONTAL OR WINTERTIME LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM PRIOR TO LANDFALL.
HOWEVER...THIS TRANSITION WILL NOT BE ACCOMPANIED BY A WEAKENING OF
THE SYSTEM...AND...IN FACT...A LITTLE STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE
DURING THIS PROCESS.

HURRICANE-FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED ALONG PORTIONS OF
THE COAST BETWEEN CHINCOTEAGUE VIRGINIA AND CHATHAM MASSACHUSETTS.
THIS INCLUDES THE TIDAL POTOMAC FROM COBB ISLAND TO SMITH POINT...
THE MIDDLE AND UPPER CHESAPEAKE BAY...DELAWARE BAY...AND THE COASTS
OF THE NORTHERN DELMARVA PENINSULA...NEW JERSEY...THE NEW YORK CITY
AREA...LONG ISLAND...CONNECTICUT...AND RHODE ISLAND.

TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED NORTH OF CHATHAM TO
MERRIMACK RIVER MASSACHUSETTS...THE LOWER CHESAPEAKE BAY...AND
SOUTH OF CHINCOTEAGUE TO DUCK NORTH CAROLINA...THE NORTHERN
ENDPOINT OF THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING.

1/4 of the Fishing Pier in Ocean City MD has been destroyed.

At least a 100 foot section of the pier has been washed away.

http://www.examiner.com/slideshow/oc...slide=54693851

and Sandy is still 300 miles away.

How is everyone holding up? I am just in 40-50 mph winds and rain 1-3 inches so I am definitely not in the worst part of it but it still isn't here yet.

turned out into a rediculous storm. all of NYC transit system was shut down, bridges were all shut down. tunnels and subways were flooded with water. streets had a few feet of water, the entire hudson rised about 5-16 feet above sea level in certain areas. trees fell down by my house onto cars, thankfully no trees around my house my car is safe in my driveway.

this storm was rediculous

an entire side of a house in manhattan was ripped off and apartments exposed
