wow, thats really easy. i saw on honda-pilot.org a while ago that some cutting is required to change the dust/pollen filter on the Pilot :(
Yes, that is amazingly easy. I also have a Pilot, and just finished the a/c filter change. I am a total clod at do-it-yourself projects, but that one was a breeze. Took 30 - 40 minutes, tops, and next time it will be about 15 minutes. Saved about $60, and i actually had fun doing it!:blah:

i had a hand in changing the filter in my 03 civic. this looks pretty identical... and if it is, then yep, it's a breeze! ;)

Pulled out mine yesterday. Wow, that thing was NASTY. Lots of leaves and black with soot from our clean new york air. Gonna check the dealer tomorrow to see if I can get a filter from them and replace it myself.

Insanely easy!!

Folks,

I just replaced mine today. All I can say is, "Sheesh, why didn't I do this six months ago?!?"

Really, just squeeze in the sides of the glove compartment box, pop it out and let it hang down, then squeeze the tabs holding the filter holder in place, and pull it out. Not even a five-minute operation!

I got my filter from the local Honda dealer for $20.23, which I didn't think was too bad -- I was expecting it to be well over $30. I hadn't done a really exhaustive search, but the auto supply places I looked for a filter before didn't have them at all. So, again, it wasn't too bad.

And, here's the result:

This was after about 10,700 miles. I'll probably do it every 5,000 miles from here on -- why not?

I checked mine today at just under 12,000 miles. It was full of leaves (on top) but was not horribly tacky. I knocked out most of the caca by tapping it upside down on the concrete. Then I took a spray duster (for computers) and blew the rest out. It wasn't that bad or discolored so I reinstalled it.

I then decided to check the filter in my Sweetie's Corolla....gross to the max. I had another as a back up and replaced it. The A/C blew about 15-20% stronger on high fan speed after the new one was installed.......even she noticed the difference without my telling her I replaced it!

Cabin air filter

28K and shy of 2 years. Mine was filthy and had pine needles and bugs in it. Changed it by just pulling down the glove box and pulling out the filter holder. Did the wife's Highlander at the same time. Similar set-up. Her's was not so bad after only a year. I'll start changing the Accord every year now. Shame it is $26.95 for filter element. Seems like a bunch of money for what you get.
