tint or not to tint

Would it be worth tinting only the rear side and back windows of an 08 coupe without the front side windows being tinted or would it look funny? NJ law states you cant tint the front side windows at all but you are allowed any % for the rear side & back.
if you think it's worth it anyway, what % should be used for the rear side & back?

I dont think it would look funny. I've seen many coupes that way. Though I can't really speak on that because I have a sedan, but I have 29% and it works out rather well and looks nice. But if you go with any %, I'd go with at least 30 or below.

You asked what the NJ laws were in another thread and I answered it.
Why start a new thread now?

To me it would not be worth the partial tint but that's your call.

Depends on how the police are in your area. LAPD and The Sheriff’s dept will usually leave you alone. The CHP will defiantly bust your chops here. In 8 years though I have never had a problem here. I guess it depends where you live and what your driving habits are.

I had the side windows front and back done in the same shade and the back darker. I wanted the sides to be even and not go from one shade to another.

One shade on the side keeps everything clean and uniform!

I want to tint my coupe, but don't want to get a cr@p job. How do you find a good tinter and one that uses decent material? My wifes Celica had tint done by someone by the dealership and it is very hard to see thru, very distorted and beginning to bubble after 5 years. I don't want that.

How do I make certain I deon;t get cr@ppy tint?

I just got 15% tint all around with the brow stip as well. Looks absolutely gorgeous.

Personally, if I couldn't (or wouldn't) tint the front side windows, then I wouldn't tint any of it. I DO think it would look wierd.

If you don't want to or can't tint the front, then just go with a lighter tint on the rear half so the difference isn't so dramatic.... maybe a 40-ish percent tint?

I have never had a problem with tinting, ask around...or check the Llumar site for a dealer:

http://www.llumar.com/na-eng/contact.html
http://www.llumar.com/na-eng/Automot...-products.html

Ask to see some of their work...whomever you go to.

No pics up yet. It will be at least tomorrow night before I have any daytime pics w/tint up.

I did not tint my whole front windshield. I'd like to, but no one around here will do it for fear of legal repercussions. I did, however, get the brow strip across the top. It comes down as far as (and a little bit lower) the factory tint across the top. Looks very nice.

I'll get pics of the 15% as soon as possible.

By the way, the brake light was impossible for my place to get done due to the depth of the design. The tools wouldn't reach far enough, so he had to cut around it. The cut came out perfect and overall it looks great. Would look better if it were NOT cut, but oh well.

Llumar, is that the good stuff that holds up and does not obstruct/blur vision?

If this was my sitiuation and I wanted tint, I would still tint the front side windows but I would do so with a light tint. If you tint them without going to extremes, the cops are very unlikely to come after you or even notice that it is not OEM from the factory that way. Once all 4 sides are tinted, even with a lighter tint, it has the effect of making the whole car look darker from the outside. Just my opinion...

thanks for the info

i'll look into getting my whole front windshield done in something light and 15% around the rest.

Tint them all or nothing at all..

IMO anything less looks silly and out of place.. Before people TRY to flame this statement I will qualify it by saying this is an aesthetic preference and therefore, totally subjective.
