4 cylinder or 6 cylinder poll
say if you have (not want):
4 cylinder sedan 6 cylinder sedan 4 cylinder coupe 6 cylinder coupe I would like to tally these all up. vote in the poll if you have a coupe. if you have a sedan otherwise replay with what you have. I keep hearing the 4 cylinder is a volume seller but i seriously only see 6 cyls driving around. the demograph here...this is a college town. I'm slighly irked that i can only afford the 4 cyl... |

I have a V-6 Coupe. The poll asks for Coupes only...might wanna fix that.
The I-4 is peppy enough to appeal a large majority who want good gas mileage yet also decent performance on the highway. The V-6 is for those folks who always want just a little bit more...(the I-4 just won't suffice when a V-6 is available). The V-6 is worth every red cent...but only if the power is something that's important to you. It doesn't sound like it is to you, mwm. And that's ok. Just go with the 4-banger.

correct me if im wrong, but the v6 burns about 3 more miles per gallon than the i4... that's not much of a premium to pay for the feeling luxury. just my opinion though.
actually, ACCORDing to this site, the i4 gets 24 MPG versus 22 MPG for the v6. that difference of 2 MPG (or let's just assume 3) isn't going to thin out your wallet too much. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/20868.shtml http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/20869.shtml

...seems like a fair call to me. Looking at input from DA, Edmunds and TOV since summer, 2005...........my highway economy pushes hard on 4-cylinder territory. .....one mo' time: my six has better numbers than my 'Vette (from the 60's). ..and next year, we be looking for a diesel Accord. Ah, the agony of choice!! best, ez....

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish from this poll, but in my humble opinion, the I-4 sedan is the most practical. Why? Well, let's see...4 door insurance is cheaper than 2 door insurance, the I-4 costs less than the V6 (insurance wise), oh and you still save the money on gas.
A few years ago I would have told you V6 or death, but now that I don't care about speed anymore I can't see why anyone would want the v6, it's just dumb to me. But that's why it's about choice, YOUR chioce, not ours....if you want to spend a lot more money for a little power, go ahead. In my personal opinion, both Accords are very slow and if your looking for speed you should buy a car made to go fast, not an accord with a bigger engine. I test drove a V6 6MT and it's slow......ssssllllooowwww, I was not impressed.

actually, i did two configurations with geico.. all same insurance options, but with different car (ex v6 vs. i4) and the difference was $2.70 for 6 months. the difference between the i4 and the ex v6 is not just speed. it's also luxury. i like having leather, a 6 disc cd changer, auto climate control, etc. the i4 ex-l trim kind of defeats the purpose to me - u have the interior without the juice. might as well have both for a little more. the ex-v6 is an entry level luxury car.. it's a big difference vs. the i4 as far as im concerned. coming from driving a civic, i'd say that the accord v6 is pretty fast.

I know there's lots of things that factor into a decision to V6 or not to V6, but honestly my 4 cyl 08 coupe goes as fast as I have the guts to go!

i have a v6, but the nazis here in virginia want to charge you up to $3500 for a speeding ticket.
that's right, if you even go 5 miles over the limit, you might get slapped with a $3500 fine.

Ya should also state that the $3500 fine is after ya have gotten several speeding/reckless driving tickets. You are not fined that amount for a first offense. Plus if you aren't a resident of Virginia you would not pay a fine that high. I doubt any State Trooper would even stop someone for just going five over.
