By DRL you mean driving lights? If that is the case, there is a fuse you can remove. Look under the cover of the fuse boxes (both in the engine bay and on the driver side in the cabin) for the diagrams that shows which one it is.

Just pull out the headlight bulbs, or paint them black

Or you can try this stuff:

I did a search, and nothing turned up. I couldn't find anything regarding DRLs specific to the 8th generation Accord.

In the time it took for your extremely helpful answer, perhaps you could have provided a link to the alleged previous thread.

Thank you for the link. I'm assuming that there's been no information specific to the 8th generation Accord ? In other words, the DRLs aren't a user-controlled or dealer-set feature?

fuenfer,

You are a noob to this board. Aviography is a great contributor and knowledge source for this board. No, avio is not a god. However, simply post in your question that you tried searching (if you did) and what you found. This is typical etiquette.

I think my response to Aviography was quite clear that I had tried searching and that I'd found nothing specific to the 8th generation Accord. So I think I followed "typical etiquette" there.

It's just that it's annoying to be told to go search when you've already done so and have turned up nothing AND also to not be provided with a link of these previous threads. Come on, if you're gonna take the time to give a answer telling the "noob" to go search, maybe you can provide a link to the thread so the properly admonished "noob" can at least get his information?

Hey sorry, I didnt even think about the 8th gen thing. It might be similar to what the 7th has. Good point. Some of us have been around too long.

I just assumed everyone got the awesome model (2006 VP). Only kidding, I am just jealous.

Has anyone done this on the 8th Gen. Is it any different?

You did not indicate in your original post that you have searched, otherwise my initial response would have been different.

You only indicated that you have searched in your later posts.

My response was at least partially due to that your posting count was 2 when the original question was posted, as much as you came here to look for answer as many people do, user group forums in general these days have been inundated with people who are too lazy to do any search first themselves, and just waltz in and post their questions as if their time is too precious to waste so they pawn off the effort to others and expects others to do the legwork.

I apologize that you had indeed searched, and your post was in the 8th Gen section so that it is legitimately a case of uncharted territory for this piece of info you are looking for.

However, we, or at least I, are not mind readers, it would help a great deal if you had clarified the situation in your initial posting that you have indeed searched, and also if you had added your car info in the signature portion of your User Control Panel set-up, then I would have had a totally different response.

Cheers

I found the best way to deactivate the DRLs is by using a hammer

just out of curiosity, are DRL that annoyoing?

btw, DRL were mandated in Canada a while back, at this time 99.99% of cars on the road have them, so for me it'd feel kinda strange if a car didn't have them...

I used to occasionally disable the DRLs on my old VW Passat in the Summer.

Unlike most manufacturers (GM, Toyota, Honda) who use the high-beams at reduced power for DRLs, VW uses the low-beams at 100% power at all times.
VW drivers get tired of replacing low-beam bulbs every 6 months and so pull the relay (173) that controls them.

In the Honda, which uses the more sensible method, I wouldn't disable them either.

I, like fuenfer, would probably disable them as well. Their only really useful purpose is similar to TPMS - folks too lazy, ignorant, etc. to know or care when to do something as simple as checking tire pressures and turning on headlights, neither of which are that difficult.
