Fix for text-to-speech break on Android upgrade

I have the HTC ONE and recently did the Android upgrade. Upon doing so, my text to speech through handsfreelink stopped working (this is where incoming texts are spoken to you on demand by your car audio). I was tempted to undo the whole upgrade, but I found the way to fix without rolling back the whole phone. Just go to SETTINGS - APPS - GOOGLE Text-to-speech Engine, and roll back to default or factory setting. The version of Google text-to-speech engine that I have working now is 2.4.3.864779 (correction added... Google TTS ver 2.1.0.757479 works! see post below, sorry). Also, make sure "show notifications" is checked.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, I stopped getting the notifications as well. I also have teh HTC One. I had the same version you posted. I just uninstalled the update and now I am on version 2.1.0.757479.

I will see if it works or not.

my bad

ok, you are correct, the version that works is 2.1.0.757479. I rolled back to that yesterday and it worked. Then, this morning when I wrote my post above, it must have gone back to the updated version! I just noticed when I was driving and got a text and it didn't work! So checked again and rolled it back to the 2.1 version. Then tested and it works! I'm going to have to constantly check this thing ... geeze.

TTS not working after Google TTS downgrade

So after the android upgrade to Jelly Bean broke my handsfreelink text t speech (TTS) I downgraded the Google version which fixed it for one day. The only test was while I was in my driveway but on the road it doesn't work. I called the handsfreelink support line and they said make sure when agreeing to import the phone book to check off "don't ask again". I did that and still not working. To reiterate my issue: all my handsfreelink functions were working until I upgraded my android OD and now all functions ok except the text to speech. Anyone??? I really miss this feature.
