update on 04' EX-V6 accord
I posted here a while ago and just wanted to let you know what has transpired since my last post.
I finally met with a Honda factory rep after waiting a month. I told her about the drifting problem and we went out with a tech on the freeway, and the tech said that my car still has a borderline drift and drifts to quickly. Any way, we pulled off the freeway and starts driving, she feels nothing, so she reports to the customer service manager that my car is within standards and that the tech said my car was within standards, this is even when the tehc said my car pulled at 5.5 seconds, at freeway speed, center lane. I also told them about my seat problem, and the grinding noise, since they didn't notice it, and it didn't happen on are test drive, they couldn't start work on it. I basicly wasted three hours of my time. After the test drive, she ordered an inspection, but three hours passed and, my car just sat in their garage, while I waited in the customer lounge. I finally just cut my losses, because on the last occasion they just told me that the car was within standards ( but I made them drive with me on the freeway to verify, and they did). Any way, my wife has a week off work and she is going to take it to another dealership, all we need is one more official diagnoses and an attempt to fix the drift, and we will have three necessary for the lemon law./ The way I see it, they're stalling and don't want to officially acknowledge the drift so they can avoid giving me a new car. The first time I brought it in the technician said the week earlier a customer had the same problem and they gave him a new car. Any way, I filed a complaint with the BBB, Honda customer service claims that the car is within standards, even though three of their technicians told me that the car has a drift, one of them even told me that they don't have time to spend on it, since it is warranty work. Any way, I responded to their claim, and now I have refiled a claim but this time I've filed a lemon law complain and I've written a letter of complaint to the CEO in Marysville, OH. I hope no one else has this problem. Thus far, I've been to this dealership a dozen times and my car is only three months old. |

Is there any way to get a subscription to that Service News? Probably have to work for Honda I guess...but I love reading all of the little tidbits in there.
I wish my dealer and mechanics read every issue. It's clear from the postings on the Honda boards that most dealers ignore these helpful items.

Sorry it's one of those employees only things....
all the dealers get them.....many in paper form. They are NOT required to read it. It's just an additonal resource. There's a computer program they can use to help look up things that may have a pattern. When putting in a key word, like "drift" it would come up with articles or/and bulletins pertaining to that word. Using the word "pull" wouldn't, so the terms need to be pretty firm. At 5.5 seconds at freeway speeds it would take about a half mile for the car to drift. That doesn't sound like a big issue to me. Sheesh mine might too! I don't drive without my hands on the wheel, so I may never know! We don't have any truely flat roads, so I'm not clear as to how that would be determined.... Is there ANY car that wouldn't drift in a half mile?? If they have shown the car to be within specs, have done the frame work & alignment, then I'm not sure what you're after here.... Is this just "buyer's remorse" & you're looking for a way to get out of the car? Don't get me wrong, I do understand if you preceive a problem & it remains unfixed, you're not going to be happy... but from what you said, they have tried to do what's required....they did what they know to do. I pass on the information so that the owners can be educated about their cars....to protect themselves....& to know when something's got a pattern. I think we ALL benefit with knowledge!

I used a stop watch... I got 4.5 seconds... so the tech's count might be off... or for that matter... mine might be off........ who knows.... you're right.... roads are messed up everywhere around here....
I know it isn't a big deal.... well.. that isn't really true.. to me it is...... I guess I just feel cheated because the 2002 loaner Accord didn't drift like my new car... and it felt like it handled better..... had I known my new car was going to handle like this... I just would have bought the 2002 loaner car.... it handle more like an Accord that I drove for a while in the 90s.... my car now.. just dives like a pigeon at 40 mph and above.... to me this is scary.. becuase my wife and I are expecting our first child in the spring... which is why I bought the new Accord... I figured that we would be safer in an Accord... but what I worry about.. if you're distracted even for a split second you could end up on the side of the road to quickly.... .... with a baby in a car seat this scares me.... a lot... |

based on this comment, "take it to another dealership, all we need is one more official diagnoses and an attempt to fix the drift, and we will have three necessary for the lemon law". I have to agree with princess's suggestion of possible buyer's remorse. going to a different dealership for the "final" repair order is an old sneaky trick, that I see far too many times from people that just want out of the car for one reason or another.

i *think* it's been determined that the 7th gen doesn't handle like the previous gens-or atleast alot of reviews have complained that it lacks some of the handling characteristics of older gens. i don't know if that is enough to really comfort you or not...
i really wouldn't worry too much about the safety of the car... go check out the pics of my car after i was slammed into twice at highway speeds on my driver's side (approximately 60-65 mph) and thrown into a spin and off the road for a bit. it's in the gallery section of the forums under "my poor car". i seriously wouldn't trade this car for the world after how well it protected me! well, except for a new one that hasn't been in a major accident!i think your new addition will be very safe in your new car!
