SAVE $$$ If you plan on extending your XM Radio service...

I have had my car for about 3 months now and just never got around to calling XM to continue my service. I was actually hoping that it would somehow go unnoticed. Well, it didnt.

Someone from XM called me yesterday while I was at work and I was busy. I simply asked him to call me back in an hour or two. Immediatly after I said that, he offered me the first 3 months at $4.99 instead of $12.99.

I know it's not much, but if all you have to do is tell these guys to "call you back" or "I am not sure if I am going to continue service," it is worth the $7 / month savings.

What are your experiences with the XM service? How much do you pay? Did they cut you off AT 90 days?

I used the ZWINBACK promotion ($77 a year) when I renewed my XM service on the Honda. I have used it twice on my Corvette.

DAMN! Just did the research:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1443624

Any possibility for me to get that deal after the first three months? I am paying month-to-month right now...Is this a Corvette only deal or can anyone use it? Where did it come from?

I really have no idea about that code. Also, I would like to find out myself.
Coz mine will expire after a week

Great topic, and gonna try to find a solution.

Any one can use it, but understand depending on the rep you get when you call they may or may not honor the promotion. So you hang up and re-dial and hope you get another rep that will give you the deal. I had to call 3 times the last time I nenewed my vette. Over on the Corvette Forum we call it "XM Roulette".

Anther trick we learned and use is to ask for the $77/year promotion, if they say they won't/can't ask to be connected to the cancellation dept. That usually prompts them to cooperate.

Good luck

My $4.99 per month for 3 month deal is good for now. I think I will be calling them up in 2 months, 28 days asking about the $77 promotion.

How long does the promotion last for?

Is there any draw back to the promotion? Hidden fees?

Promotion expired awhile ago but people are still calling and getting this deal. Here's a link to some discussion on it:

No hidden fees from what I can tell, just maybe might take a few tries to get that price. How did XM get your number when they called you?

77$ deal has been around for since 2006...it started off being used for a special for Acura-zine folks (I believe)... XM has no clue of what car you own, so others started using a script to make it sound like they were included in the deal.

This 77$ *deal* has spilled over across many forums and I have seen others get a 10 month for 60 dollar deal too.

All I did when I re-upped after my free 3 months (this was at the first of February) was say, I'd like to subscribe for a year, when I purchased my new car the dealer mentioned a promotional rate of 77$ for a years worth of XM and I would like to take up that offer....they asked for the radio code (comes with your manuals or tune to Channel 0) and a CC# (I asked not to bill auto when my year comes to an end) and in about 5 min's , all my channels were back on.

Do a search. There's another rolling thread about the XM renewal deals with quite a bit of discussion on people's experiences.

For the most part, I haven't had any issues renewing time and again at the $77 / rate. Once or twice it took calling back and threatening cancellation but it always worked out. Just be nice to the rep and take it in stride.

Mine should have canceled two days ago, but it still worked yesterday for only very few channels... Would these be free channels then?

I have a satellite radio kit on my car, but I do not have any problems with static. Is your antenna in a good location?

However, I have Sirius. I actually prefer it.
If I get a new Honda, I will have a hard time adjusting...
