Ipod Audio Cable for 08 Accord?

what cable should you use to connect your Ipod or other MP3 player to the stereo? Is it simply a 3.5mm male to male? I'm asking because I'm assuming this would not allow you to control your MP3 player through the car stereo interface. If this is true, is there anything out there that lets you do this?

Yeah you're right. I just got one of those cables at Radio Shack for like $4. You can't control the ipod through the car's audio system, but it sounds good through the speakers.

I know there are MP3 adapters on ebay for our cars. The adapter has a memory card or usb flashdrive input and the box connects to the back of the factory radio in the cd changer plug. The radio controls the "mp3 changer" and you can have multiple folders setup on a 2 gig flashdrive and have hundreds of songs. I have this installed in my wifes car now and in my old pilot and loved it. I know it works for the 08 accord also. You have full control of this 'mp3 changer' the same way you would control an OEM cd changer. you can pop your flash drive out and pop another one in. Its very easy to bring or add new or different music. You just copy and paste your mp3 to a folder on the flash drive and thats it. Then just stick it in the little black box that you installed in your glove box. It consists of 1 plug that goes into the back of the factory radio and a little black box that you double stick tape inside your glove box that have inputs for memory cards and usb flash drives. There is also an ipod input on the changer if you ever needed it for another input into the factory radio.

This isnt the mp3 changer i talked about before, but this is what you need if you want to control your ipod through the factory radio and thumb controls. This will also charge your ipod while connected.

This is what I have in the Pilot now....This works in the 03-07 Accords, Pilots, and many other Hondas...email the seller to find out if it will work in the 08 Accord.

I did a lot of research and bought this
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sendstation-smar...QQcmdZViewItem
and this from the same seller
http://cgi.ebay.com/9-Mini-Stereo-Ca...QQcmdZViewItem

Together, they worked perfect for what I was looking for. It charges the iPod, it uses the dock for lineout and it has 3.5mm lineout to connect to the Aux In in the center console. Everything is contained inside center console. Only that comes out is the iPod and a single wire, no crazy contraption.

You use the 3.5mm cable from the seller (it's a really nice wire for the money) to connect between Aux In in the center console, and the Line out on the side of the charger. You plug the charger in, connect the iPod, and voila!

With these you still can't controll the IPod from the stereo though can you?

Doesn't look like it, but I still think I might pick one of those up. I like the idea of only having one cable running to my iPod for both audio and power. It's kind of clunky running cables to both the top and bottom of my iPod and keeping it managed on the console. It's a nifty design, IMO, running the audio from the power jack like that. Perfect setup for the Accord.

Anyone know if it comes with the USB cable? I'll probably message the seller and see.

No, unfortunately. You control the iPod through the iPod itself. I have not seen any OEM iPod integration done as well as Alpine did. They are often slow and navigation is awkward. Since I don't plan to install an Alpine headunit, this is, imo, the second best option.

Yes, it does come with USB cable. Those 2 links that I posted are all you need. Also, you want to use the dock for stereo out. You get much higher quality signal from the iPod. The headphone out on top completely mangles the signals before it even reaches the HU.

I ended up getting the Belkin Auto Kit for $33 at Amazon. It is pretty much the same thing, but it has an adjustable amplifier (so you don't have to crank the HU volume up high). The iLounge review for the Sendstation unit said that it could've used that feature. I haven't experienced the ground loop interference that some users see with the Belkin unit, either. Sound is very nice. Only minor annoyance is that the cable comes out at a right-angle to the iPod, but that's just something I'll have to get used to.

So far so good.
