2006 Civic Auto Tensioner Product Update Campaign (RECALL)
DATE: January 29, 2009
TO: All Honda Sales, Service & Parts Managers FROM: American Honda Parts and Service Divisions RE: 2006 Civic Auto Tensioner Product Update Campaign On January 30, 2009 Honda Motor Co. will post a Service Bulletin to support the auto tensioner bolt product update on the North American and Japan produced 2006 Civics. Basic Problem Belt tension is high on the 2006 Civic. If the torque on the tensioner bolt is below specification, the inner washer seating surface becomes deformed. Repeated loading of the bolt (normal usage) leads to the stress on the bolt exceeding its fatigue limit, resulting in the bolt breaking. Supporting Materials The Service Bulletin 09-007 will be posted tomorrow, January 30, 2009. The Service Bulletin will detail the installation of a new auto tensioner bolt and new accessory drive belt with revised routing. The customer mailing will begin mailing on February 6, 2009. Campaign Parts This campaign will require replacement of the auto tensioner bolt and the accessory drive belt. These individual parts are packaged as a kit. Each dealer will be allocated kits automatically. The kits will begin arriving at dealerships on January 31, 2009 and continue into the week of February 2, 2009. Additional kits can be ordered as needed. Note: Vehicles not equipped with A/C will require the re-installation of the original accessory belt since the belt length is different from the belt supplied in the kit. Repair Strategy Repair vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale. Repair customer vehicles that meet the campaign coverage criteria in the VIN status inquiry system.

It's interesting that they sent out a message for the EX models only and for the front brakes to be replaced... That means they aren't even addressing the rear brake wear issue.

That's means the others haven't been enough to track down a cause.

2003-2005 Civic CVT Mount
To: All Honda Service Managers/Advisors
From: Technical Research & Support Group Re: Request For Parts: 2003-2005 Civic CVT Mount Print this iN message and provide a copy to the Shop Foreman and all Service Advisors. Background American Honda (AHM) is currently investigating 2003-2005 Civics with CVT mount failures. The failure can be found during a CVT replacement or other repair in which the CVT is removed. Some symptoms can be a vibration on acceleration, a grinding noise, rough idle, or a growling noise from a stop or the mount could be torn. AHM would like to collect the mount, bracket, and bolt as an assembly (Click here to view the parts of interest); if it is suspected that the mount is the failed part. Make sure NOT to separate the mount from the bracket. Before removing the assembly, please take a front and rear photo of the mount showing the position of the rubber stop, and send the photo to TRS. Action Required If you have or know of such a vehicle call Technical Research & Support (TRS) Group. TRS will record certain vehicle information and provide you with further instructions. Thank you.

You've heard this before (brakes)
Here you go again!
Three weeks ago I purchased a 2009 Accord V6 EX-L with a VIN number listed below. The car had less than 100 miles on it. Third day out when I first drove it with the windows down I noticed the squeak/squeal from the front brakes. Brought it back to the dealer. They said it was glaze (rust?) from sitting on the lot. They machined the rotors and sent me on my way. This, of course, did not solve the problem. Brought it back and they machined the rotors again and replaced the front pads. A week later, of course, they are squeaking and squealling again. My question is, given others experiance with this problem, how do I effectively deal with the dealer and Honda. I am led to believe by others that I could continue to go through the motions, but until Honda has a fix, the noise will continue. Do I push the dealer to guarantee me to replace the brakes, rotors, and calibers if they ware prematurely or are excessively noisy until Honda fixes the problem? After all, the dealer knew or should have known this car had the problem given princess' post. Therefore, my beef is with the dealer as well as Honda. Suggestions? Quote:
