goodyear triple tread

anyone use these? lots of good reviews on tirerack. I am in need of replacing my tires at 33,000 miles and I priced out the michelins that came with the car $700!!!!! These goodyears have an 80,000 mile tread life and from the reviews seem to handle well in snow rain and dry pavemnet. They are selling for $496 installed from goodyear, plus $50 gas card and $25 or $50 off if I open their high interest card.

please give me any feedback on this tire or on goodyear in general

thanks

good tires

those are pretty good tires, if tirerack reviews rate them high then they must be good.
If you are looking for an all season tire, with snow capability then those are definately the tires for you.
If however you are looking at 3 season tires, i.e. spring summer, fall, and light to moderate snow
then i would recommend the following 3 tires

BFGOODRICH Traction TA/V, H
Yokohama Avid V4S
Bridgestone Potenzas Re950s (check tire rack to see which one ranks highest in the category)

also check out www.vtec.net it has good discussions on tires for you

People on VTEC.net said it's great, a lot tried it on their 7th gens, even on an AV6MT.

the tread is interesting looking to me. I will post a pick when I have one. I have never put new tires on a car, so I am a little anxious I hope I made the right choice!!

ok so I have not put too many miles on them, but i really like them so far! In the rain they were amazing, really held the road, I drove them on about 2" of slush/snow and the breaking was awesome. dry pavement is better then the mich. that came with the car. Only have about 100 miles on them so far but I will keep everyone posted. I bought them at the goodyear dealer with 6 months 0% and rebates totaling $100. that makes it almost half of what the mv4's would have cost.

I assume those are "directional" tires, i.e. they can only be installed on the right or the left...how do you know which side they belong on?

you follow the arrow.

you cant rotate them without taking them off the alloys.

you just make sure that they are pointing in the direction of rotation as marked on the sidewall.

yes they are directional, they have to be rotated front to back same side, you dont cross them to the other side of the car. They dont have to be installed right or left, they just have to "face" forward, if that makes sense. they kind of make a V shape and the bottom of the V should point to the front of the car.

and if you do rotate them

and if you do rotate them then you need to unmount and remount them with the inside on the outside when you switch them over to the other side (confused as yet?) to prevent uneven wear on them.
