Unhappy Ignition trouble. Main relay? (Gen6)

I've got a 2000 Accord EX Coupe and I just recently started having trouble starting my car. When I turn the key, it just clicks. This usually happens when the car has been sitting in the sun all day and it's hot inside the car. My boyfriend did some research and found that it might be the main ignition relay. He also found that with most Acura's and Honda's around the same year mine is, this problem with the main ignition relay happens a lot. There's a brown fuse-looking thing under the dash where the foot pedals are and when I tap on it while turning the key, it will start. Any ideas what this problem is?

I had the same problem as you, and it was the main relay.

When I told a mechanic it was the Main Relay, he didn't know what i was talking about. What is the actual name of the part? Ignition main relay?

Wasn't this covered under the ignition recall? Plug your vin into Honda's website under owner's link to find out. Save some $$$ too.

THat's not the one I think SS was referring to. There is a recall on the ignition where the engine will just cut off without warning. Then it will restart normally shortly afterward.

I'm not convinced from what you describe this would be the problem but it might be worth a look. I'll see if I can dig up the recall...it's on this forum in a couple of threads.
