Best gas for 8th gen accord v6

Hey everyone, this is my first post! I just bought a new 08 accord v6 sedan and I want to know what type of gas I should fill up with. If you guys can give me any suggestions on brand, octane, and MPG I would really appreciate it.

most people get around 27/28 mpg (post breakin) with an auto v6, there is no gain going higher than unleaded, for brand it depends on your area since different places put additives in the gas.

I have the V6 with the 6 speed and I average somewhere between 18.1 and 24 and that is city driving with 20-30% hwy (some traffic)... Quite a range but it varies greatly with my driving. I don't have the VCM or whatever you call it.

I haven't noticed any perceptible difference in performance in this car with low or high octane fuel. I think it is such low compression, it doesn't need high octane fuel. I really wish they would've bumped up the compression, even if it meant requiring high octane fuel. This motor is probably closer to 290 or even 300hp with higher compression. As to what brand, well, I alternate between Chevron, Mobil and 76 and have never been able to tell a difference.

This is exactly why I question the benefit of VCM. I get consistently worse mileage than you and I have VCM. You'd think VCM would provide a greater benefit in mpg, but considering that it only kicks in when there is almost zero load on the engine, it probably make little to know difference.

Read the manual. Use 87. I usually use Shell, but I'll stop by the WaWa right by my house if I'm on E.

I have the 6 speed M/T and it don't seem to care what fuel I put in it. I would think in the city or stop and go traffic that the 6 speed might have the advantage but on the on a long road trip on open road the auto with VCM should do better.

I read somewhere (I believe it was in the manual) could be wrong though that while yes our cars can run fine on regular unleaded (87) it says something about that if you do use regular if you drive below 2k rpm on the manual you can get a slight engine shake ....

I use 89 don't really have an answer as to why i just figure its between the lowest and highest octane so it couldn't hurt and its not considered lowest grade fuel ...

I am pretty sure this is the same throughout gen7 & 8 ...

In Canada, I use Shell. I'd use Chevron, but its not available where I live.

Chevron apparently is the best of the best out there so if there are Chevron stations out where you live, I would suggest you use that. Honda Canada thinks highly of Chevron.

Bought my v6 may this year and started out with 87 octane, but just recently i decided to try higher octane 93, i immediately felt the difference (more power).

i think you'll get better performance from the v6 using higher octane gas 90 +
