Question Serious Question for the Moderators

Just curious as to what is the criteria for moving certain threads to different areas of this forum.

For example, my recent threads on CAI and Tires (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24862 and http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24878) were moved to "The Honda Accord Lab" subsection.

I see numerous threads on HID's and CAI's in the main 8th gen area yet they have not been moved.

Just wondering what the difference is.

It really just depends on if they've already worked out their clicker finger for the day.

I've never gotten a straight answer to this question either.

As you indicated, CAI and Tires were the subject of these two threads you identified, and they were moved to the "Modified" and "Wheels and Tires" subforums respectfully which were part of the "Honda Accord Lab".

Us Mods could only wish people would put the threads in the right places to start off with, however we are all volunteers here, regular day jobs, families etc. come first, and we don't always notice these threads not being where they should be, but we move them when we do notice them.

It's kind of like someone asking a cop how come he/she is caught speeding when "all those other people are speeding too, how come you don't go catch them?".

It is simple.

We elect moderators generally (this could change at any time) through a semi-democratic election system.

When we mods decide that there is more work than we can handle, we add new mods to the team through voting. This was done just a few months ago and would easily be understood if one took the time to read through the various other forums here (you know...the ones that we move threads to b/c people seem to only think 1 forum exists on DA....).

We as mods will screen the applicants. We know who lies and who doesn't as well as some people's history. There are some people on this forum whom we know have a serious history of lies and will never be a mod (even if they were elected).

So...you have to be impressive enough (across all generations of Accord) to have the popular vote from the forum. This would mean posting in other areas of the forum. As well, a moderator would have to understand where posts belong.

Why are some threads moved and not others?

Like Avio said, sometimes we miss stuff. I have a real job that is taxing. I don't have time to piss away at work on the forum (sometimes I look during lunch or while on a teleconference).

It should have been moved, it was in the wrong place.....AGAIN!

The moderators here do one hell of a good job and get paid zip for doing it. When I see a post in the wrong area I notify a mod and ask that it be moved. Same goes with dumping SPAM or straightening out a member that's out of control. Why not assist them instead of making smart ass remarks like some of those above?

Damn ya'll, I want my money back.... err' uhhh- hmmm, wait it's free! (n/m)

On-topic, proper thread placement would make a lot of the other sub-forums more active than they are otherwise. It's obvious individuals have the concern that their thread will be lost in an abyss of topics that are in more lively sub-forums, but if the subject matter is worthwhile, those who matter will actually get to it. Just have to have faith in the system. . .
