how to replace factory stereo
If I replace the factory stereo with an aftermarket car reciever would I have to get a new faceplate? Can I just plug in the reciever and still have all the knobs for ac and stuff work?

For how to remove the stock radio, search for the crutchfield mastersheet.
You can repalce the oem radio with an aftermarket one, and still have your knows work, but the metra dash kit you need is ugly, and extremly cheap looking and feeling. Your other option is to get the honda double/single din adaptor that replaces the storage area under the radio, and keep the oem radio to control temp, etc. If you want to keep your tempurature readout, or have dual zone climate controls, your only real option is the one that replaces the storage pocket, and because of how much better it looks, just about everyone puts it in the under the radio |

How about keep the OEM headunit and upgrade with an amp and new speakers? You'll improve the sound while retaining the look.
Sworkhard is right, the Metra dash kit is very ugly. It is very cheap, doesn't fit well, and the buttons don't really match either. Also, if you have an EX-V6 with dual-zone AC, you will lose the Dual Zone feature by using the Metra kit. If you really want an aftermarket, your best option is the dash kit for installing the headunit in the lower pocket. The AC controls will continue to function, and you'll just have to explain to people when they ask why you have two stereos in the car. |

I'd say keep the oem unit and upgrade the speakers unless your gives off an annoying hiss when amplified like mine did. As soon as I swapped the deck the hiss went away and it sounded much, much better, esp the lows. I had a rf360.1 (make me an offer if you want it) to clean up the signal, but the bass cutoff was really annoying The biggest difference after upgrading to the aftermarket deck though had nothing to do with how good it sounded. The first road trip I took my accord on I noticed how tired I was, and how sore my eyes were compared to my old 94 cavalier. After instaling my new deck I don't get tired eyes and ears nearly as fast when driving long distances after the upgrade which made it worth it all on its own. |

can you add steering wheel controls after you bought the car?
can you have the reciever sit on the bottom so you have more space to put stuff on top of the reciever? if i get the din adaptor would this be a relatively easy thing for a car audio shop to do? can you put it in the glove box instead? i want to get an aftermarket reciever so that i can play mp3s plus have usb and aux in |

This is why I got satellite so I would not need my ipod or mp3.
I am not up on the technology, but aren't there FM transmitter Ipod docking stations out there? This is how my satellite broadcasts. Anyhow, your best bet is to go to a car audio store and ask them what your options are. I would think you could accomplish your goals without replacing the stock radio? Quote:

i'd rather use an usb flash drive instead...that way i don't lose or forget my ipod in my car, plus its one less thing to worry about since flash drives are getting cheaper and cheaper
