tpms reset tool . . .

. . . was originally discussed here recently -

http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...highlight=ateq

But the tool was damn pricey.

So, this is the message I received in response to an email I sent to Ateq Canada:

"The tool you are looking for is the ATEQ Quickset. It plugs into the OBDII connector of your Honda. It will store in its memory two sets of tires – Winter and Summer. When changing your tires simply press the appropriate button on the ATEQ Quickset. It is $179 + GST + Shipping (Typically Canada Post for approx $10)"

Now, for those of us with two sets of tires/wheels, who've done the math re two visits/service invoices per year, this seems like a no brainer.

Any thoughts/comments?

(FYI, they have sales outlets worldwide).

If this thing works as good as it says on the web site, you can count me in. Maybe if we get some more people we could do a group buy, if they will let us and give a good discount.

And went to the web site and it said "Coming Soon"

So you can get it now post a link

Sent email to ATEQ U.S. asking about availability and received this reply
"Thanks for your interest in ATEQ TPM QuickSet. It will be available at the end of April 2009. I will send you the new
product announcement then."

Interesting. No mention of it not being available now in the email reply from the Canadian office.

I'll phone Monday and find out.

Here's my question. Right now, my car is looking for my winter wheels because they were installed and the TPMS sync with the car. Now I have my summer wheels and the TPMS light is ON in my cluster. This tool will reset the TPMS but will it sync my captors?

Or do I have to purchase it like right now. Made the tool learn my winter TPMS, then go to the dealer, make them sync my TPMS, and sync the device with my car for summer. The next years, I just have to plug it in and press, summer or winter?

Thank you

Each TPMS is serialized. Without seeing the reset tool and instructions I can only make the assumption that you input the serial numbers then install into Honda connector and reset computer to accept new TPMS....but that's just an assumption at this point.

I called this aft to set up an order for one (can't be done online). Jeffrey Rees says they're expecting a shipment in two weeks which fits with what the US office replied to you. I'm installing my wheels Friday so I'm just going to run with the tpms light on until the reset tool arrives. Just for shits and giggles, I'm going to call the Honda dealership and find out what they charge to do the reset - awesome dealership btw but in the end, money talks.

I'll keep you posted on when I receive it and how it performs. I plan to keep this fine car for awhile so for me it's a good investment.

I want this tool sooooo bad! My one concern is .. will this fry the ECU? I'm sure no one has the answer to that, but still a concern. The way the tool looks there is no screen on it to tell you what its doing, which is sort of unusual, but for around 200 bucks, it will be soooo worth it.

From the description Jeffrey put in his email to me, it sounds like the tool stores two sets of four tpms codes and you simply plug it into the OBD and push one of the two appropriate buttons to set the right stored codes relative to the set of wheels you're installing. This is a huge worldwide company - check out http://www.tpms-tool.com/ and I'm sure it'll ease your mind about the tool doing any damage. I think this thing is brand new which is why there's so little info available, but it looks like they've been around for a long time. I'm not worried.

Okay, good. I actually E-mailed them myself. I got the same response about availability and compatibility, but nothing about pricing as of yet except the mention of "friendly pricing". If friendly means 250 or so, than X-mas comes in April this year!
