...taking a long and closer look at the 7th gen style
...hey guys and gals, you all know what its like just after you've gotten your new ride, you simply can't stop looking at it...so I was walking by my Accord in the driveway while bringing the recycling box back from the curb, and noticed something, then I noticed something else, then I put the box down and started to really do a close study of the way the 7th gen Accord is not just styled, but engineered.
...have you ever taken a close look at how the back window glass is so completely flush with the roof and rear pillars, compare it with a 6th gen and you'll see what a major difference there is. The same thing applies to the windshield as well, talk about smooth, no wonder this thing has such a low drag ratio. And the way the side window glass fits is also amazing compared to other designs. Also the way all of the body lines flow integrally from front to back, the top fender line originating at the grill and sweeping up the inside or top of the headlights along the top of the belt line, ending up at the top of the trunk line, which on mine ends perfectly at the rear lip spoiler. The other line starts at the top of the front bumper and flows past the bottom of the headlights, creating the characterline seen along the side of the body and ending with a perfect intersection of the rear taillamps. The other body line, that I've only seen done as well on the TL, is the way the hood opening lines flow from the edge of the grill along the hood to end up where the A pillars flow up the sides of the windshield, very very cool IMHO. I also like the way the edges of the front and rear glass flow into the line that goes up and over the roofline, again as opposed to how that was done on a 6th gen car - both the older Civics and Accords were identical in how this area was styled. ...go out and take another enjoyable look at your ride, but notice how artistically these things were accomplished along with good engineering to boot!! cheers, Lorne Miller Victoria BC 05 Accord deep green pearl with ivory 99 1.6 EL clover green pearl with ivory 96 Odyssey taffeta white with sage |

IMO its the best body Honda has ever done. And one of the reasons we bought a Accord sedan. It has wonderful coach work and design. Not a asian cookie cutter design. Theres not a eclectic line in the design. Something the wife and I picked up on real fast. I like how the hood slopes and how the front fenders come off the hood to a flared fender. Great lines there IMO
Many dont like it. Ive heard complaints of the bulbus looking trunk, Blind spots cause of the front piller and rear piller. They complain about the tail lights.. Just on and on. I looked at it this morning as my Ranger was warming up and thought " that is one nice little car " ![]() Now if they could just get the arse end of the coupe right. The deck lid spoiler/wicker bill does help alot. Funny how a after thought could make that better.

Top Value
I agree, The Accord is a beautiful car.
I think the EX-V6 along with the Navi system, at the price they are sold for, is probably the best value in an automobile to be found anywhere.

IMHO of course.... I have a coupe and actually prefer the rear end over the sedan. I love the way the sides curl around into the trunk and the rear light setup. (Although I saw a mercedes Coupe a couple weeks ago and they are very similiar!)
I must agree, I love the lines on the new one. You can tell it's a honda 500 yards away, not like the bulk of the other cars out there where until you see the badge you have no clue who makes it.... Speaking of, I am not a huge fan, but you gotta admit, Chrysler is really pushing the mold in this catagory as well, they are definitely coming out with some cars that don't look like anything on the road. Too bad they can't design the innards to match...... |

7gen coupe rear is quite round, a spoiler helps, or a redesign, a more evolved version of last gens coupe wouldn't have been bad.
i guess i'm biased, i like touring sedan look ![]() |

I think the coupe has a distinct shape. It almost reminds me of a sideways teardrop.... I do like that this is the frist time the sedan and coupe have their own distinct look, two interpratations of the same car. Before, the coupe almost always looked like the engineer said slash off the middle and attach the back.....

I ended up going with the EX-L and it wasn't too much more then the LX. The leather wasn't a big hit for me, but the heated seats and auto/dual climate was a real plus.
