Want to paint my 02 Accord EX aluminum wheels and need help

I want to paint my aluminum wheels because the clear coat is peeling. Has anyone had longterm success with painted aluminum wheels on the Accord?

Your current wheels are polished on the face and painted in the inset areas then clear coated.. You would have to completely strip the wheels then paint and then re clear .. That will last about as long as the original if they are subjected to the same conditions and care. You could have them powder coated if you want the finish to last longer... More expensive than painting.

Wheels are the most neglected item on most vehicles.. Carnuba waxes will only last for a few days and sealers should be reapplied or layered monthly depending on driving conditions.

OK, now I am curious. I actually wax my wheels, but can you explain what sealers you use on your wheels to keep them looking good.

This is a new one on me.

I use Klasse Aio and SG.. also have used 4star UPP..

Carnuba waxes break down very quickly under the high heat conditions that wheels are subjected to.

There are also several specialty wheel sealers on the market that are high temp rated also.

Poorboys is one specialty one.

And then there is Collinite #845 which is highly praised on the detailing forums.
