Windshield pitting
Is there any way to fix it or do I just have to live with it? My 2 week old car already has a few small pits and my wife's car has thousands of tiny pits...presumably from 80MPH sand particles. I wonder what speed we would need to drive to avoid it altogether?

80 mph sand particles
Wipers on a dry windshield Using a brick for an ice scraper (company car) No felt strips on door glass Automotive glass is susceptible to all of the above and probably more. I'm not aware of a solution for the pitting. (The front bumper probably is worse than the windshield, but less visible.) Around 180k miles on my Corolla, the windshield pitting was so bad, my insurance paid for a free replacement. (No deductible on windshields). At night, in rain, I may as well have closed my eyes as try to see thru that old windshield. The new glass was like getting a new car. |

Would keeping coating with rainX type stuff slow down the pitting?
Maybe the ones for AZ would know....they deal with high winds & sand!

Putting rainx on the windshield was one of the first things I did with the new car and it doesn't seem to have helped at all.

I had a big problem with pitting on the windshield of my previous car and the only solution I found was to replace it. The problem with our cars (and many other newer models) is that the windshield is at a steep angle so you get glare when the sun hits it. Most older cars didn't have this problem.

My thought is live with it. Mine has many hits/chips from the many "rock trucks" in Texas since the highways are always under construction. Once it cracks or starts to spider wed (spread) that's a different scenario.
