Premium sound with aftermarket radio

Hey, I bought an aftermarket headunit, kenwood dnx7120 for my 08 coupe with premium sound and i connected all the wiring and got everything to work almost. All the speakers play just my factory sub wont play. Does anyone know if the factory sub has a separate amp that i gotta plug in to the radio?
Also
On my harness there is a pink/black wire named external amplifier control wire. would that go to the sub? if so what color wires are the sub.

i searched around the forums and wasnt lucky enough to find the answer.

Hey...i just did this also..you have to splice into a small harness for the premium amp and connect rcas to it then plug those rca to the back of your preout for your sub on your head unit.

i think i know what i gotta do, i found out which cables are for the sub, got the positive and negative. So if i get this im guessing it should work.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136CLR2...l=N&search=rca

im only ganna have to use 1 rca cuz i only got 1 sub, and that one rca has 2 wires for positive and negative im guessing?.
Any one else think this is going to work? or am i completely wrong and theres something else i gotta do?

Hey I am new to this...

Whats up? My name is Jeremy and i just got my 09 Accord (I placed the model and stuff on the signature.. i read the newbie post ) So now that I introduced myself let me get to my question...

I want to install an aftermarket radio in the car.. But my main question is.. will the display on the top work if i do so? Does the entire system work off the stock radio? I have the dual climate control so the display that says the radio station and temp i mean...Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

the top display will not talk with aftermarket radio. You will lose the clock and compass. But i did found the factory amp accepts unbalanced input (regular RCA line output) without problem.

Think your temp controls will still work fine if you upgrade to an aftermarket head unit. Display for song titles and stuff obviously will not.

Those of you that have an aftermarket headunit, what did you do about the screen on the dash? I would like to remove it or add something. I would rather not have an empty screen that is useless taking up space. I have no nav by the way.

Don't you still need it for temperature controls and compass?

ONLY temp will show after install... Another way to keep sub working is run your new deck using the oem amp. That will def keep sub running. your deck has no 5th channel to power the sub so thats why...

A few questions

1. When you used the rca's out of an aftermarket hu going to the factory amp, did you use Shield Ground or the Ground?
1a. Any noise when using the rca's out to the factory amp for the sub?

2. Did anyone use the PAC-OEM2? I think you would need 2 of them to to do all 5 inputs. I have read that you can use the PAC-OEM2 backwards (RCA from after market HU to the factory amp).

3. What did you guys use for the VSS? All I could find was the ECM/PCM (Engine Speed Pulse) NEP. (Cant search for VSS, and I have been through most posts that just say-no vss)

09 EX-L NO NAVI. I ask because of money reasons the factory speakers and amp aren't being replaced for a year or so.
