Change oil 2700 miles after I've had it for a year?

Hey all,

I've had my coupe for almost a full year now and have only racked up about 2,700 miles on her. Should I take her in for an oil change very soon, or should I wait until higher mileage and the maintenance minder light comes on? I'm not sure.

At least now I can take in the car for the TSB on the sticking driver's side door handle.

I would NOT run any oil more than a year personally in any car regardless of mileage (or lack of).

You need to change the oil at least once a year, even if it has low miles. It's in the owner's manual on the page with the maintenance minder code descriptions.

The OP only has 2700 miles on the car..........That would be every few hundred miles in his case!

I'll probably just go in and get it changed even though the oil life meter still reads 50%. I only drive about 19 miles a day to and from work/gym then home.

The reason that Honda calls for an oil change at least once a year is because there's a presumption you are driving infrequently and/or short distances if your MM doesn't signal an oil change before that time. If that's the case, contaminates may be accumulating in the oil. Even if that's not the case, you are required to change your oil at least once a year to meet your warranty requirements.

I'd change it at a year. Damn, I've had my accord for 11 months and it's near 17k already, and that's with me commuting on my motorcycle every chance I get....

8 Months and I'm at 21k. Wish we didn't have to drive so much, but at least we've got a nice car to do it in!

I have a "low" mileage Accord as well, I've had it for almost two years now and I've only got 12k on it. Going by the MM system and changing when I reach 15% I've been getting about 10-12 months/ 4500 miles per service and everything is running smooth.

Get a bike

Only 2700 miles in a year?

Why own a car at all? I would ride my bike and take a taxi when its too far.

U would save money, gas and get all the exercise you need

But then he wouldn't have a kick-ass Accord!

Just to fit in - I put 16k on in my first year.
