Email to Hondata about Reflash

I wanted to post my email to Hondata today regarding a reflash and their response. I am sure this has been covered but since there are not that many new threads in the forum, I figure we need some more reading material. Below is the email:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to thank you for your prompt response. I am a member of the driveaccord.net forum and we have many members that are interested in a reflash for our J-Series vehicles. This is just not for the 8th generation Accord but the 7th generation as well. I am well aware of the cost associated with R & D but I wanted to ask if let’s just say we can get at least 100-200 members to prepay for a reflash will Hondata be interested? We are all pretty knowledgeable with a lot of aftermarket chips out there and but no one on our forum will put such a thing on our vehicles unless made by your company, Hondata.

We hope that Hondata will keep this in mind for the future and we all look forward to the day when Hondata does come out with a reflash for our vehicles.

Thank you,

Ronald Bassi

Why didnt you add 4cyl too? I'm sure they'll do reflash for the k20 which is similar but not same to the 09 tsx which they are working on to offer re-flash right now.

Good on you. Create awareness to the issue and hopefully they will comply. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to be kept updated with the emails sent back and forth. With enough interest I'm sure they will respond. All they have to do is come on this site if they want proof.

On a side note, Id love to see pics of your shift knob and boot installed!!! Whenever you get your car back cause I saw the pics of it being worked on. You've got a serious list going on in that sig.

4-Cylinder

I was thinking of that after I sent that email. I have just sent them another one. I will post their reply once I get an email back.

Unhappy Car at Shop

I wish I could get my car back by tomorrow. It took them almost the full two weeks to get the scissor doors on with all of the welding and cutting. The shift knob is on the car already even before I took it to the shop. The ebrake will take a little bit of ingenuity and fabrication to work due to the momo pit stop e-brake being to long. I was assured that they will get it done. As soon as I get my car back I will get detailed and take pics. I hate driving my Hyundai rental with the taxi sky blue color

Here the problem with reflashes, they have to be very specific to engine/vehicle and 3rd party parts on them. so doing gen7 V6 and gen8 you need a few flashes just for OEM trim levels.
Second the V6 is limited a bit on what can be tweaked, there no VTC like in K2x so your limited to intake only Vtec point on 6MT models only. I doubt they do much to touch A/F levels, but even there would only be slight improvement .

AFAIK, Hondata is moving to FlashPRO so they don't have to do actual tune, just ability to tune ECU, that saves them RD on each type of moding done.

They probably just need to do format change of each ECU so they are able to alter just right fields needed.
