Best tint % and still see at night?

My friend has 35% and it appears pretty light and although I haven't driven his car I wouldn't imagine any problems driving at night. So my stock windows are crystal clear it appears, no factory tint at all. What % would be good for looks/heat protection but allow me to see at night? I was thinking 25 or 30 but not sure...

tint shops will tell you 35% is a good mix for night and day driving, while still giving you a tinted look. A dark interior helps. 20% is about the max you can go and see well on a dark night.

imo, i wouldnt pay for anything lighter than 35% on my previous accord (99 sedan) i had 35% done on all windows. it was a good look...dark in the shade or when overcast, not as dark when the sun was out and i never had any issues driving at night.

my current car (08 coupe) i had 20% installed...i am very glad i got the darker tint this time arround it was more what i was looking for, night driving with 20% has given me no issues, there are times when it es extremely dark (no lights around other than my headlights) when it is difficult to see backing up with sideview mirrors, etc...however, i believe that it is something that you get used to and not something that makes the car unsafe to drive at night

good luck with your tint...let us know what you decide to do and POST PICS when its all done!

I have 35% on the driver and passenger windows and 20% on the rears and I have no problems seeing at night. I kinda wish I had 20% done on the fronts but I was concerned about tickets.

My previous car had 5% on the back and rear windows and I never thought it was an issue. Sure when you are trying to back up on a dark street with no lights behind you it might take an extra bit of caution, but I'm usually not in that situation living in the city. My new car has 20% all around and I see just fine out at night.

start off by finding out what is legal in your state... i know a friend that had 20% all around and had to pay to have them removed and a $150 ticket for tints being too dark. Each state is different, i would say play around those numbers. i have 35 driver/passenger and rear windshield, but did 20% on the rear sides... it gives it the illusion of being dark tints all around still being uniform and no loss in visibility... ALSO, tint quality makes a difference... cheap tint, even at 35% won't be as clear as good tint at 20%...

35% is a good mix. I've had 20% on my last two cars and I had a little difficulty with night time driving. Sure, 20% probably looks the best but when it comes to functionality I think 35% is a good medium.

I am planning on tinting my windows on my Toyota double cab next Saturday and most likely will go with 35%.

I have 35% and love it. You don't even notice it inside the car but it gives you protection from sun heating up your car and it doesn't look like you have black windows. IMO the only cars that look good with less than 35% are black cars. For silver or other light cars, less than 35% just draws too much attention to the windows. IMO it looks ricer.

I have 20% all the way around and have no problem at night. Also check in your area and see how the police actually are. The guy at my tint shop asked where I lived and said 20% was no problem with the police but there were other areas he wouldn't advise getting it. He also asked about my driving record and if I went around blasting music etc. Basically he said if you weren't drawing attention to yourself most police just left those people alone. It just all depends on where you live and drive how dark of tint you can get.

How the police react to illegal tint in your area will sway most peoples decisions on what % tint to get. In my personal opinion there's really only a couple things you need to ask to determine if you want 35% or 20% all around your car.

1) How much night driving do you do?
2) Are the majority of roads you take at night well-lit?

If you do a lot of night driving, you might steer towards 35%, but 20% would still be very drivable at night. The largest factor that will play against you getting 20% would be depending on how well-lit the streets are in your area. If you take a lot of farm roads or side streets that don't typically have much street lighting, 20% might give you some problems.

It's mostly a matter of personal preference. Both would be fine, you'd just need to pick one that you're more comfortable with.

I just got 35% all around, i like it, days that its really bright out u can see inside, with the over cast sky or dark conditions it looks alot darker. I went with the 35 because of the cops around here, they love giving tickets to really dark windows. any ways, i just posted pics of it and the link is here http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=34774 it was overcast with the moon roof door slid back. if i had closed the moon roof it would have been darker. And i have no problems at all with night driving.

QFT. I used to have 20% on my previous car as well and whilst it wasn't completely dark at night, it was difficult to see through the rear. Very happy with the 35% on the Accord, and it's legal.
