Finally saw an Accord Rental!

I was on vacation with my father in Colorado and we were at the Sand Dunes National Monument. At the visitor's center, I was surprised to see a 8th gen Accord LX rental! It was complete with rental barcode stickers in the windows and a fleet license plate. I snapped a iPhone picture. Just thought it was awesome, I have always wanted to rent an Accord, but have been told it was impossible. Apparently it's possible now!

Haha, I always did wonder why I never seemed to be able to rent an accord anywhere. Now that I have one I'll probably want to rent something else just for the novelty of it, but it's funny that you noticed that too and then spotted one!

Did you happen to take notice of which company? Hertz, Enterprise, etc?

Back in 2007, I simply walked into a familiar Enterprise location in NJ (where I am friends with the reps) and there was an 07 Accord LX sedan rental parked outside! I was stunned to see they had a new low-mileage (4 digits on the odo) Accord, and swiped it up for my 3 day rental!

The Enterprise reps, with a wink, warned me NOT to bring their car back rebadged as a BMW!

I agree that is it cool to have it available as rental car: you can drive familiar and good car, and test it before buying.. but cars models that are in fleet have terrible resale value. Not only ones that were rental, but every single one.

I'm pretty sure it was Hertz or Dollar, but it had no markings so not completely sure.

That's VERY unusual. Most of the rental companies specialize in domestic cars, i.e., the Big Three. It's an appearance thing, they don't want to look as if they're sending any money overseas. Never mind that most Hondas sold in America are made in America (as well as a lot of other "foreign" nameplates), in the minds of many Americans, they're "imports" and that's a P.R. no-no.

I think it is more of that big three have special deals for rental companies (otherwise their sales would greatly **** instead just ****) and some/most imports care about resale value and try to not get too involved in rental business.

I rented an 08 accord lx from thrifty once. The guy behind the counter told me to go and pick a car at the airport lot. I saw a ton of chargers and in the back corner was the accord. I had to take my wife, daughter, brother and myself on about a 1000 mile round trip and my wife and I both loved the car and now we own one.

Enterprise here in Jacksonville has been renting out mainly the 4 door since the new ones have been out.

i had an 08 accord 4 door green back in november of 08 when my car was in the shop... she killed a deer that got in her way...

trust me as owners you dont want them to be renting them out.... definitly hurts resale value

I had a major accident recently and my 09 coupe will be in the shop for a month (as of yesterday) but Hertz in MA had an '08 Accord Sedan LX they offered to me for a rental... although I chose something else, but they had it. haha
