Maintenance Minder - B1 service

So MM - B1 message came yesterday on my accord sedan. Car is at 12K miles and this is 2nd services.

I called dealer today to ask about how much they charge for B1 services for accord sedan. I was shocked when they told me its ~$145 ($126+Tax+supplies).

Is this normal charge? should I go for oil and filter change only? I can get tire rotated at discount tire for free.

These are the items listed for B1.

Maintenance Main Items:

Replace engine oil and oil filter
Inspect front and rear brakes
Check parking brake adjustment
Rotate tires

Inspect these items:

Tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots
Suspension components
Driveshaft boots
Brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
All fluid levels and condition of fluids
Exhaust system
Fuel lines and connections

Call a different dealer. You're talking about an oil change, a tire rotation, and a multipoint inspection; that's rediculously high for basically the same service Jiffy Lube does for less than $25. I've never paid more than $30 for all those services at my dealer; the only time it jumped to the price you're talking about was when my air filter and air cabin filter were ready to be replaced, but that wasn't determined until they did the inspection.

Wow!.....$145?...... why is it so cheap down in the states?
My B1 Service was done on my 4th service. And my car was at 28,000km.

My B1 Service was charged for $289 + tax = over 300$ from honda dealer up here in canada.

My wife always used to fall prey to the misleading long list of things they do. "But they're doing the oil, the brakes, the coolant, the transmission, tires..."

NO! They're not doing any actual work other than the oil & filter change. Read it closely again honey, "Check" this, "Check" that, "Inspect" this... You are paying hundreds for an oil change only; every thing else is just them glancing at it for few seconds.

Why are you complaining, you don't have to go to your dealer for service. There are numerous alternative sources for automotive maintenance, none of which you obligated to use.

It costs money to run a dealership and regardless of what they are doing to your car, changing a transmission or doing an oil change, your car being in their shop is taking their time and you are charged accordingly. It is up to you to decide what you are willing to pay and where you will have to take it to obtain your price.

If you think it cost too much, do it yourself. Auto maintenance is far from rocket science.

I change my oil myself. It's fairly easy on the 8th gen Accord.

Just change the oil and maybe rotate the tires. At 12k miles, you don't need to have the other things done.

I'm not complaining Dude, I was just asking what people are being charged for similar service at other dealers.

I know changing oil/filter is not rocket science. May be I'm not free as you are.

btw I took my own M1 synthetic oil + M1 filter and they charged $16 bucks just for labor.

I paid $48 for an A1 service. I feel at a dealer that is a very fair price, considering what was done and what things cost. Oil and filter, rotate tires, check tire pressure. and test battery.

I don't really know about those services, I've only had the minder come up once, but I thought it was because I haven't changed my oil in awhile and the oil life was pretty low.

Hell I think as long as you change your oil, keep an eye out under the hood and don't drive you car like an idiot you should be fine.

I take my car to precision tune and get oil changed, fluids replaced, all those inspection checks for like 30 bucks.
