ASTRO...oh yeh...

It was very good back then, now I normally use this:
Meguairs Deep Crystal System Polish
Deep Crystal system Polish is a pure polish specially formulated for dark-colored cars. The formula creates a dazzling, high gloss finish by conditioning and nourishing the paint, making dark colors darker and eliminating fine hairline scratches for perfect swirl-free reflections. It is that extra step necessary to create the ultimate, wet-look show car shine

And top off with:
Meguairs Gold Class Clear Coat Car Wax
Gold Class Clear Coat Wax will dramatically darken color, bring out the full richness of the paint, and create clear, sharp reflections for the ultimate show car shine. Glides on and off so easily that you will want to wax more often.

I have never used a sealant on my cars...I guess I always remember reading that paint needs to breath and sealants don't allow breathing.

Could I be wrong?

PK

OK, you have peaked by interest. Like any automotive enthusiast or car aficionado, I take great care with my vehicles and have used umpteen types of cleaners, polishes, glazes, waxes, etc... So, I want to try this first hand and give you my results. If it works as expected, I might contact them about running a banner on this site, but only if I endorse it first. Thanks for the intel.

My interest, too, was peaked, and I just ordered a combo pack - should be here late next week. Given that I have 4 cars, and one of them is 10 years old with questionable care , and the fact I have close to zero time to maintain my cars these days - it sounded like a winner!

I'll report back on how it works. For now, off to Orlando for a wonderful week of conferences where I guarantee I won't see the outside of the building until after dark....

It works as well as I have described and it's as simple as that. When I find a great product I want all to know about it the same as when I find a doggy one.

Please do report back on this thread. I'm certain that you will find it as amazing as I have. I'm still finding more uses for it.

Okay, I have applied it to my Accord but it was pretty damn sharp to begin with. I'll put the whammy on it with WP and see if I can get a decent pic.

BigBucks,

In answer to your question, paint sealer/glaze is slowly taking the place of wax, in my opinion.

When I do a professional detail on a vehicle the last step is sealant, not wax. Here's my reasoning (along with 100% satisfied customers): Wax on top of sealer can make the overall look deeper and shinier, no two ways about it. The down side is that the wax only lasts 30-45 days tops. The paint sealer lasts 4-6 months PROVIDING that the surface was prepared correctly initially. Dirt rinses off without effort and the surface is renewed.

Since proper preparation and sealer, as the final component, can last so long.....why do wax?

Mind you, I'm talking about the average Joe not someone like me with OCCDD= Obsessive Compulsive Car Detailing Disorder. (Inspector 1 infected me with this malady, it's HIS fault )

Preparing your car for a show after spending two days on the paint? Wax is a must to finalize the look.

Trying to clean up the family buggy for next weeks trip to work? Seal it, leave the wax alone.

My opinion only, I'll accept the flames.

Im going to do the Accord Sat. or Sunday. Its got afew light scratchs I noticed last weekend. So a good bath is in order. Then clay it out, polish it up with the buffer and yellow foams. Then seal it up. With a good wax on it. Also need to touch up acouple of places. Going to use Mcgires products on it. There polish and liq wax has worked well. I hope the sealer will take it abit farther. With winter coming I want to get it sealed up and waxed up good.

psy -

Check the sealant directions. Many recommend a 12 hour period (kept inside & dry) before you top it with anything else.

I use Maguairs products also.
Just found 2 full bottles of product
#7 Show Car Galze and Hi Tech Yellow Wax..both virtually untouched.

Does Maguairs even make a sealant?

If not, what sealant you going with?

PK
PS I am always up for new products for my car...
