Danase Water Spot Remover -- Quick Review w/ Pics

I used the Danase Water Spot product several months ago and have been meaning to share the results but have just not gotten around to doing so.

Bottom line, this stuff just plain works! This customer came to me thinking he needed a new paint job. The mineral deposits were so bad that he could barely even see out of his windshield. When I would gently rub my fingers on the deposits it sounded like I was rubbing my fingers on sand paper!

Any how, on with the pics... The entire car was riddled with these water spots as the customer had just moved to the area and didn't know how hard the water was and he left his truck parked next to a sprinkler that was watering new grass seed. New grass seed needs to be kept wet so the sprinklers were being used 3 times a day and the truck had sat right next to the sprinklers for a week while he was out of town for business.

The owner and his son tried all kinds of products before bringing the truck to me and nothing even made a dent in them. I thought I was going to have to use wool and compound to get them off, that is until I tried the Danase product.

On with the pics

This is indicative of what was ALL OVER the truck!

Before:

After (obviously I also corrected the paint):

Bottom line, this should be in every detailers supplies... You never know when a customer’s vehicle will need it!

Thanks, I had been wondering about that very product. What is the procedure for using it? Did it require multiple apps since the spots were so heavy?

The truck looks fantastic! Better than new even.

Good tip, thanks

http://danase.com/Danase-Detailing-P...emover-p4.html

8 oz $14.95

Danase Water Spot Remover was formulated for the detailers who demanded perfection without it taking all day to achieve. What was once a long drawn our process that took hours of elbow grease now is as simple as wipe on wipe off. Water Spot Remover will remove water spots and built up scum from paint, clearocat, and glass. Made from a mild acid base it breaks the bond between the mineral deposits and the surface. Regards

Richard

Some areas took 3 applications due to the severity.. I used an old orange small pad and worked the product in and rinsed it off. The only deviation from the instructions was I used an orange pad.

This product DID NOT remove the swirls, just the water spots. I had to machine polish the swirls out.

For final protection I used Bilt Hamber Auto Balm... Amazing product.

(slightly off topic).....

Co-incidentally I was working on the humidfier on the furnace last night, the fancy mechnism on this humidifier is suppose to allow a certain amount of water from the pan to drain out every so many turns of the drum to prevent scale build up, had failed last winter so the water was draining rather quickly all the time, I decided I wasn't going to bother fixing it so I just clamp the drain tube shut.

As you can imagine the calcium build up inside the humidifier at the end of the winter was simply atrocious, I just left it since the damage was already done.

Looking at it last night, there was almost 1/4" thick crust of solid build up at the bottom of the pan, a thin layer on the float and other mechanism, I was able to crack and pop off the thick stuff, but there was still a good amount of stuff stuck to the bottom of the pan that just wouldn't come off.

I throw everything in the kitchen sink, filled it with regular tap water, and add a mug worth of white vineger into the sink and let it sit for the day.

All the scale easily came off the surface of the pan and the float with barely any scrubbing when I came home tonight.

I guess this water spot remover is probably based on the same acidic principle to react with the calcium in the hard water stain, but try cover the paint on the car with vineger for a day!

Great find, and GREAT work on the paint!

I just got a tin of AB. Awesome product, but a little tricky to apply.

Oh and nice turnaround with that car. Did you ever get a chance to use that AG CWC I sent you?
