In theory I believe it's about 50 kms so around 30 miles. But I wouldn't try it lol...

If you have the NAV, you can check out your Trip Computer to see how many kms/miles you have left on your tank.

i don't have an 8th gen... but I've gone ~120 miles with the light on (60 miles with the needle resting on it's little post below the E) and then filled up 17 gallons out of the 17.1 or 17.2 (forget which) tank

I don't have my manual here at work, but I remember it saying that when the light comes on it has 10 Liters of fuel left (2.64) Gallons. I don't know if anyone can confirm this but that's what I remember.

I keep track of my mileage using trip b. After about 3 fill ups i have a baseline and i can start to push the car for longer distances. I now usually drive about 40-60 miles past the light. the 7th gen has a 4 gallon reserve and if i do ~25 miles/gallon (~325miles) i have a range of ~100 miles (~425 miles) on reserve . You can adjust this number according to the mileage you were at when the light came on. Remember the range on the reserve will change according to your driving style. You will no longer have a ~100 mile range if you get a lead foot after the light comes on.

Max i have filled up is 17.193 gallons.

*note* This is a estimate of how many miles you are getting. You might run out of gas if you push too much. Take precautions when trying this out.

The manual states that the light comes on with like 2.8 gallons left(or close to that).

One time, gas light came on, kept driving constant speed of 65mph on highway for another 60 miles or so before filling it up. I truely think it can go even further.

When the light comes on you can drive 27.39 miles regardless of weight load, fuel type, speed, tire size, wheel weight, road conditions, and tire width..............

That's not a valid question because of the many variables...... City driving or highway? What speed? A/C on or off? One person in the car or four with luggage? V-6 or 4 cylinder? Stick or automatic? Flat or mountainous terrain? Drive easy or lead foot? ALL of these plus many other items affect MPG.

The real answer is from Inspector 1:

Quote:
My light will come on with 2 gallons left in the tank. (Fill up with fuel)
Why not check yours immediately after the light comes on?

If you put the particulars of your car in your signature it will help others help you.

My uncle who always helps me fix ish on my car says to never let your gas tank get below the empty line because the water pump sits in the gas to keep it cool so it won't overheat , so I don't. He is from Jamaica but he is definetly a Ricer, is he right?
