I went out yesterday and put 300 rounds through the Sigma with my reloads. Everything worked great! 9mm Luger 115gn fmj, 4.5gn of Titiegroup powder, cheap HMF primers, 1.125" OAL. I didn't punch paper, but had a hell of a good time skipping rocks, double tapping cans and shooting low hanging limbs. One thing that suprised the hell out of me was how clean the brass was inside and out after firing the round. I tumble all of my brass. I want it really clean and pretty when I make up my loads. While tumbling also cleans out the inside of the brass. It does not seem to get the inside as clean and polished. Well every one of these rounds fired left the inside of the case clean as hell. Almost polished looking. I tried to get pictures of the inside of the brass, but none would come out right. For kicks I fired some Win. WB and REM. SS and both left very dirty brass inside and out. Clean up of the pistol was very easy after shooting. First impressions of this TiteGroup powder is fantastic!

I also ran 100 rounds through the CZ-52. That thing is amazing! I blew up some balloons to approx. 8". Set them at 50 yards and 100 yards. 90% balloon kill at 50 yards and 40% balloon kill at 100 yards off hand. I could not kill a balloon at all with the 9mm at 100 yards. The missed balloon kills at 100 yards where still very close as seen by the dirt cloud kicked up by the bullet. 50 rounds were surplus ammo. And 50 rounds of Win. WB. That 7.62x25 is one sweet round! And the old CZ-52 isn't to bad either. The report and muzzle flash got the rifle shooters attention. Not to mention that a pistol was there reaching out and touching to there range.

Had a lot of fun and good redneck fellowship. Also went to a turkey shoot put on by a friend of mine. Got to watch and enjoy young and old shoot for frozen turkeys. Show up with $3 and they provided the shotguns, ammo, targets and turkeys.

Also secured permission to shoot on a buddy's land down by the river anytime I want to shoot. Be it round testing or blasting off a 1000 rounds. This place is only about 4 miles from the house. Works great for me!

Was a great day!

I like that CZ-52, it has a good history and well thought of every rangemaster, I rented one about 10 years ago, and it gave me very tight goups, which surprised me for a well used rental firearm, Regards

EZ It was all two hands standing. I'm not a great shot at all. Its the pistol and a fast slug. Bob around the balloon, squeeze the trigger. I will never beable to do it again. I couldn't hit any balloons with the 9mm.

Did anyone see Steven Segal this week on 'Lawman' a new TV show in Jefferson County Louisiana? It was impressive, and he is one heck of a shot, Regards

I think the "best" self defense weapon for MOST people is the tactical size 12 ga. shotgun. Loaded with No. 8 shot, it won't do much beyond 2 layers of drywall, so your family is not at risk. It WILL make even the most determined attacker change his mind at the distances most people would be firing at inside their home. (You're not supposed to shoot them running down the street. :-)) The shotgun helps overcome the loss of fine motor skills (needed to properly operate a handgun) that most people experience to some extent once the adrenalin hits a sleepy brain. The biggest drawback is that you MUST be able to handle the shotgun ambidextrously to safely move through the house and properly clear doorways and hallways.

With any gun, professional instruction and regular training are a MUST. People think nothing of spending an hour a day at the gym to make their abs or a$$ look better, but would never dream of going to the range once a month. Hard to understand . . .

Well, not sure if any of you experience, besides handling a firearms, you gotta be prepared to lose your hearing if you decided to go unload a round or two in a close quarter environment. You could effectively damage the hearing of your family members as well.

I took some pics of the CZ-52 and the 91/30 a while back. I have since refinished the CZ-52 with a fresh parkerized zinc finish. Its still soaking up M1 0w-20 oil.

The 91/30 came to me with the scope already mounted in sidewinder fashion. The barrel was in horrid shape and completely black showing almost no rifling. All most a black smooth bore. I scrubbed on it like crazy with very little progress. I then made myself a electric reverse plating system. Used a carbon steel 1/8" rod, a cork, two D battery's, electrical tape, wire and ammonia. After about 8 sessions the bore is back. I pulled carbon, cosmoline, lead, copper and god only knows what else out of the bore. While I still would not call it a bright bore,,, it's very clean with only minor pitting from all the abuse and corrosive ammo.

I took it out and it shoots great. I sighted it in at 50, 75 and 100 yards off the sights and brought the old Weaver scope in at 200 yards all off a rest. On surplus ammo the ballistics seem to be just a tad under a 30-06. It's dated 1942. I'm pretty sure this rifle saw action in WWII. The bolt is very smooth and all S/N's match.

I hope the time presents it's self before next hunting season so I can redo the bluing,,, Rust Blue of course, refinish the stock and bed in the bolt and barrel. Then see how it does at 250 and 500 yards with a new scope.

Say hello to my new deer rifle. No need to go bucks on a new one now.

I'm liking these free communist block curio firearms a lot.

I'm thinking about getting a HK - can anyone share some insight or experience you may have had with them?

HK makes a good gun. I don't own one (own Taurus), but you can't go wrong with an HK.

Caliber size? That's up to you. I bought a 9MM thinking that its popularity would make ammo easier to find. That was the exact opposite of what happened. Seemed the 40mm was easier to find, but its more expensive to shoot.

Whatever you buy, you must practice with it. So keep that in mind when pricing ammo.

Dang! where are you finding 40mm projectiles at?

Perhaps 40S&W? same diameter bullet as the 10mm.

22 Caliber seems to be the only thing you can find these days and its not cheap either. Federal Bulk pack at Walmart used to be $<10.00 2 years ago. Now its nearly 20+. Here's my latest edition to deal with the high ammo prices.
