accord-tsx 170hp-200hp WTF

so whats up with the tsx having 30 more HP.... acura honda needs to get there..... stuff straight

question: how does the tsx make 30 more HP the engines are the same right?

anybody think of a tsx head swap? or a camshaft swap?

or maybe its mapped differently?

i know it would cost alot of money but wouldnt somebody have done it already?

It's ridiculously easy to get the engine to make 30 more HP when you can modify everything. You can get the head you have now modded/port/polished with cams and such and easily get +50HP.

the accord and tsx engines are the same family and displacement, but most other specifics of the engines are different, compression, etc.

Also the TSX version of the 2.4 requires premium fuel to achieve 200HP.

Yep, that's a result of higher compression, I suppose.

The accord engine uses a different head and cams. The VTEC mechanism in the accord is less aggressive too (hence the different cams). In the accord, when VTEC kicks in it only opens a 4th valve (on the intake side). It normally runs on 3 valves per cylinder. There's no VTEC at all on the exhaust side. It's designed more for fuel economy.

In the TSX head, VTEC is used on both intake and exhaust valves, and when it kicks in, the pairs of valves synchronize and open wider like in other VTEC engines.
