I have never understood the mindset of a tuner. I see guys like this, or on here who talk about taking Accords and putting in different engines, different transmissions, reversing the drivetrain for RWD ....

If that's the car you ultimately want, why'd you buy an Accord (or in this case, a Civic) in the first place? Seems like it'd be cheaper and easier to start from scratch and just build the car you want. Or better yet, buy a car that's actually what you want rather than trying to turn the one you bought into the one you want.

It's a hobby thing for most. Some people play video games, some play sports, some gamble, and some tune cars.

i like it! and it's a bit of a "sleeper" also w/o having a turbo, or any drone from a fart can, haha. and for a sub 3,000lbs. car, that thing would be effing quick!

i also saw that these cars all had their luxury accessories, ie A/C, heater core, P/S, etc., removed, and the batteries were relocated to some other location in the car - presumably the rear.

i do agree with some members of the forum though, the hoods need something to cover up the engine.

Very nice sleeper car, but im done with ricey look. Moved on with elegant family car.

Someone I knew who owned a Mazda Miata and swapped it with 5.0L Mustang engine, now talking about lots of power on a small car.

Ever heard of the SVT Focus 5.0? They actually made some, very few numbers. I dont remember the exact amount though. So dreamy..modern 5.0 inside a 2 door hatchback focus with RWD. Ultimate sleeper..Imagine pulling up next to a Camaro SS (or anything really) and seeing the look on his face when he hears the roar of a V8 pulling away from him from this lil 2 door focus LOL.

Tuners

Tuners are not typically your everyday driver, perhaps more of a hobbyist and adventure to push envelop beyond standards. Everyone likes to see work of a tuner. Tuners are responsible for changing our attitudes and perceptions of what cars can do. Often Factory designers look at tuners for advancing their engineering and design. Tuners take risk in their experimentation. Regards

I would rather have RWD for any swap. Anyone seen the monster miata's? 4.6 v8 from the 98+ mustang in a miata. There is also a rotary miata down here. 330 hp with 2600 lbs to push around.

Because it's fun! That's the exact reason I am building an engine on the side for my 1991 Accord EX. Stock motor made 123whp, this one should make ~200whp, which will be FUN. It's just a hobby. If I wanted to buy something fast I would, but I'd rather build something to be faster than it was.

Didn't some guy put a Corvette's v8 into a Civic or something?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmP3au8UoXc

EDIT: Oh nevermind, I guess he swapped the drivetrain and like everything else too so I guess that doesn't really count
