rear rotors should probably just be replaced, not even enough meat to turn them usually. Rears get used a bit... best to do it right so you dont have to redo it later.

I think it all comes down to personal opinion. I have never had the rotors resurfaced when changing the pads and the brakes seemed to work just fine. If they looked bad or I had some pulsation in the pedal when braking, I would just replace them.

If the surface is uneven with grooves, heat cracks etc., then resurface them, otherwise it's up to your personal preference.

I never used to surface my rear rotors, just changed them off for new ones at every other set of rear pads.

I feel resurfacing is needed, why put new pads on unsurfaced rotors that could eat the pads that's the way I was taught, also I don't like the autozone pads that shit is just made to last the longest so I stick with oem

I grabbed some Wagner Thermoquiets from advance Auto when they had the rebate this summer. Haven't used them yet, but they are supposed to be very good. AutoZone's Duralast are good as well. Don't overpay, there are too many good pads at a normal price.

Hawk and EBC come to mind. A lot of my friends use those and they're very happy with them.

If you're looking for performance mods, have you tried upgrading the size of your stock rear rotors? As for the pads, I'd stick with Hawk or Akebono, so I hear.

I almost forgot about that. My father called to find out how to change the brakes on my baby sister's Civic. He told me he found a write-up on a forum.... the one I wrote. I had to laugh.

Well, I can't speak for others and their preference. I use Duralast Gold products from Autozone. That's about the ONLY thing I buy from there. Yes, they last longer than the OEM brakes. Are they better than Honda? They are on MY car. By better, I mean the car stops just as well as it did with the OEM brakes. The thing I like about Duralast is that the rotors don't warp like the OEM ones did, and the pads I use are ceramic (which help them last long, and still provide great performance). On top of that, they are LIFETIME FREE REPLACEMENT! Doesn't get any better for me. In the write-up, I may have mentioned that OEM front brakes lasted 20k, and rears lasted 30k miles. The Duralast Golds still have a good bit of material on them now @ 75k miles.

But, this is just MY testimony! REAL DAY-TO-DAY DRIVING! Better results, and much cheaper the OEM.
